    True, and false

    True - fb will see a big drop in their income if all their users stop showing up

    But that will almost never happen - due to the fact of the sheer number of users fb has gathered

    Once you achieved a critical mass, like what fb has gotten itself, it'll not be that easy to topple it --- Ask yourself if Microsoft going to close its door tomorrow, that Bill Gates is no longer on the helm, and Steve Ballmer still throwing chairs around

    And false - Remember fb has garnered many billions of $$, and if they do not repeat stunts like what they did in the $1 Billion acquisition of Instagram - fb will still be around for quite some time to come

    Your analogy is flawed

    In a real life military scenario, an exodus of several general will create mass confusion and drastic drop of morale amongst the soldiers

    On the other hand, in the case of fb, even if 90% of the exec decide to leave, you think that will do anything to the fb users?

    Nope, zilth, nothing

    Them users will still use fb to tell the world when they go to toilet, what they ate for breakfast and what they did with their gf/bf the night before, like usual

    I can't tell you the details without breaking business secret, suffice to say that the data we are working at is more than peta-byte, and there is no repeat or duplication

    But the truth is, in data-mining operation, the bigger the metadata the more ways you can mine it, and the more surprisingly the result you get out of it

    The offering from Amazon and Barnes & Noble are like carburettor sub-compacts without airbag, anti-lock brakes power steering, air condition and power windows

    What available from Apple are fuel-injection BMW with all the trimmings

    When BMW decides to offer a sub-compact, it will come with all the trimmings (anti-lock brake, air bags, air conditioning, power-everything)

    If Amazon / Barnes & Noble want to compete, they better upgrade their sub-compacts with matching trimmings, or risk losing their customer base

    I built my first company in the Silicon Valley, sold it, build my second company in Silicon Valley, sold it, and build my third company in Asia
     
    Why?
     
    Not because of "cheaper labor", hacking cost is universal, whether it's in Silicon Valley or in Asia
     
    I built my third company in Asia because I could plenty of talents in Asia, while on the other hand, the younger batch who moved to Silicon Valley are there not because of their interest in hacking but because of money - Technology do not progress because of money, technology progress because of people who want to do something different

    I do not use it as a management tool, rather, I use it more as a "patchwork" tool to facilitate easing of the workflow

    That is why I do not understand why the NASA engineers want to take such a risk

    Unless it is a totally fatal software bug - that is, if they do not upgrade the software, the Curiosity rover gonna be bricked - I do not think taking the risk of bricking the rover for a regular software upgrade is worth the danger of bricking the rover, which is, as TFA has stated, 350 millions miles away

    I am adapting some principles from the Agile / Scrum method in managing my business

    However, I find that in our monthly brainstorming sessions - the traditional brainstorming way still generates more leads than the Agile / Scrum method

    Anyone have any experience to share ?
