Watching the NASA feed I was so glad to get a virtual boner from the fact there wasnt a single toy system in the room. I was so glad to see Sun, MACs and Linux systems fully represented.
I am very encouraged by your determination to bounce back
However, as one who is in this field for a long-long time, I have to tell you that the programming industry is no longer like what we had back then (I read your description and 17-years is considered as a long-time in this field)
I am not very clear about your disability, so I won't tell you what not to do
On the other hand, there are a ton of other stuffs out there, my friend, try them out, maybe those stuffs will suit you much more comfortably than what you had, before that accident
If I am not a member of a certain organization there are 3 possibilities:
A. I do not know of the existence organization
B. I knew of that organization and decided not to join
C. I applied to join, but that organization decided not to accept me as a member
In the case of option C, since I was the one who took the initiative in applying to join that group (but being rejected) I am in no position to complain if that group keeps a profile of me in their blacklist (or something).
But for A and B, I have no link to that organization and I really do not like the idea people (or group, or spy agencies) keeping track of me even when I'm not even doing anything for or against them.
What kind of world we are living in?
Even in 1984 the Big Brother wasn't keeping such detailed information on everybody.
There is a mention of "Dark Profiles", and I quote:
"... a team of Facebook engineers was developing what they called dark profiles - "pages for people who had not signed up for the service but who had been identified in posts by Facebook users. The dark profiles were not to be visible to ordinary users, Losse said, but if the person eventually signed up, Facebook would activate those latent links to other users."
Those "mistakes" are only a small part of Cisco "features" - there are even more unknown exploits embedded inside Cisco hardware, courtesy of NSA and other 3-letter spy agencies working for Uncle Sam
It is paranoia at best. More so when it comes from the US because they already do such a thing.
China, strangely, are completely innocent in comparison to the US.
China is not completely innocent - but compare to US, in term of spying technology, true, China is like a kindergarten kid as compare to Uncle Sam, a University Professor teaching PhD post graduate students
Telling the whole world when, where and what you have taken your lunch, when, where and what you did when you were with your gf/bf is a life with no privacy whatsoever
Absolutely not the kind of life a normal, self-respecting human being would lead
If you send the neutrino on too weak a power it will face interferences from other neutrinos produced by natural radioactive decay and solar processes
But if you want to send your neutrino and to ensure people on the other side of the planet can receive it, you have to send it at least with a power of in the order of millions of electron-volts - that is a lot of juice we are talking about !!
I saw that tunnel of light, once, when I was still a little kid - of course I didn't know what was it then - but seeing that does not give me the power of immortality - I know I _will_ die someday
Papua New Guinea has over 1000 living spoken languages
Of course
Places like Africa, India, and Papua New Guinea have a lot of spoken languages, but there is _ONE_ big problem - that's all they have, spoken words, no written word, no way to jot down what they say on paper, et cetera
... that the Obama administration supports DCMA and all its equivalent draconian laws that originated from the hq of MAFIAA
Remember SOPA ?
Wow !
Can you imagine that?
NASA is landing the rover but the Japanese are doing a better coverage on that landing !!
http://www.ustream.tv/ is a Japanese site, btw
It's very tough for anyone trying to pick up new skills when the short term memory is affected
Soon as you start to get used to something, your forget and have to start over, and over, and over again
I have a relative suffering the same thing and have been trying my best to assist her in getting herself back into normal life routines, again

No IBM ??
No Cray?

Will try out your distro when I got the time to build up another test machine
Isn't that Brokeback Linux?
You need to go to Taiwan for find it
It's creepy no matter who is behind it

Sadly, I have to tell you that Privacy has been ignored not only by the government, but also by a lot of people around us
Look at what they have disclosed about themselves on fb and other social-network sites

How can you educate children using a second language?
Huh?? Ever since I was a tiny baby people around me were speaking 4 different languages
I guess I picked up all those 4 languages "naturally"
Educators found generations ago that teaching in a language other than the child's first language simply does not work for young children.
[Citation Please !!]
And as I grew up, I started by learning how to read and write the 4 languages that I spoke, and in adulthood, I picked up yet another 3
To me, picking up languages come naturally - it doesn't mean I am the language expert in all the 7 languages that I can speak, read, and write
I picked up the English language in my teens, btw
I guess I fail English today!
I guess you must have a hidden need to fail yourself
Many thanks for explanation !

Got one upgrade to IE, another one upgrade to Safari - what about Netscape ?
Remember Netscape, the original IE buster ?
In other news, what if Richard Stallman said "I laid off the 'shrooms and bought an iPad - fuck GPL, it was all just a bad trip all along"
LOL !!
Thanks for the needed laughter !!
