    While we are living, we are _mostly_ stuck inside this gravity well - with the exception of our imagination

    Only after one dies, that the spirit is freed from the bond of the body - if you believe in the existence of "spirit", that is - and in this gal's case, finally she gets to roam the Universe, without having to strap herself next to a big rocket

    Almost every new day I learn of yet-another-3-letter-spook-government-agency in existence

    And in the bad-old-days we were told that there were only 2 of them, FBI and CIA, and only one of them were allowed to spook against the citizens of America (that was, FBI)

    We are no longer at the innocent age where people did not patent obvious things like round corners
     
    In this age that we are living, it won't be long when someone is awarded the patent of breathing, or patent for using O2 for survival, or a photosynthesis patent - the thing that leaves had done for millions and millions of years

    The Gooseberry is basically the main board from the wave of 7 and 8 inch android tablets currently coming out of China without the touch screen or chassis

    I haven't the time to check, but if anyone is interested they could check reference designs from ARM's site - maybe this board is one of the reference designs provided by ARM to the China White Box cellphone factories

    The project may be technically feasible, but economically I do not think it makes sense

    I hope the Auzzies do a thorough feasibility study before launching it, or someone would end up paying a lot for nothing

    I am not discouraging them from carrying it out, I'm just being practical

    This brings back memory of the very well thought out packaging that comes with compaq computers in yesteryears
     
    It might not be much, but users DO appreciate the extra thoughts that they put on packaging their gadgets nevertheless

    I do know the existence of both words

    For some reasons - perhaps subconsciously - my fingers typed out "reign" - and as GP has stated, the subject was "Government" and the word "reign" in a way was still kosher, so I decided not to change anything

    And ... a DirectX 10 graphics card. I think that's even more implausible than the 1GB RAM. Did they port Office to WPF or something?

    Yeahyeah I know, Direct 2D, fancy hardware accelerated text, etc. It's still kind of funny needing a GPU for documents.

    With bloatware like these how the hell they can survive in the tablet / smartphone platforms, where the CPU/GPU/RAM specs are much MUCH lower than that of the desktop ?

    The other way is to evolve, and to evolve very very rapidly - in a shotgun approach - to ensure that _some_ of the offsprings, no matter how much they have changed, would made it through

    I've lost the link to that article, and the last time I read that article was years ago

    So I could be wrong on the method of dating - it could be something else - but that "5 million year old" thing should be correct, unless, my mind fails me again :)

    You know those inscrutable aliens in sci-fi films that have indecipherable glyphs on the sides of their spaceships: They're Chinese.

    Actually, someone found a stone tablet, somewhere near Siberia. They carbon dated it, and it supposed to be like more than 5 millions year old

    On that stone tablet were carvings that looks very much like some ancient Chinese characters

    I had the link once, but unfortunately I lost it (hard disk crashed).

    I tried to search for it, to no avail.
