Go to a city council meeting and encourage them to build a municipal telecom. I work for a muni telecom. Telephone, CableTV (Digital/HD too), and Internet (dial-up, cable, rural wireless). Even though we don't have the lowest prices, and the highest speeds, we still have 80% market share. You don't have to put up with a monopoly.;)
You can't reinstall your OS either. Or change profiles/logins on your box. Or use more than one computer. This could be abused ad nauseum. I think this issue should have been dealt with in ways other than the DMCA. Its already become the go-to law for ANYTHING anymore. I remember signing petition after petition, and e-mailing my elected officials when this was just a bill (and getting back the form letter saying they value my opinion). I wonder.. what would it have taken to actually get this stopped. More importantly now, what act of God would it take to get it thrown out?:(
Yeah, but this is why you go bang a raw unshaven vegas hooker every once in a while, gotta take a raw break from the air brushed "OMG I GAINED 3 lbs" fake breasted Hollywood call girls.:)
(Translation: This is why I watch "Amature" porn once in a while, and not the skinny "barely legal" crap that is all over the place)
Motorolla Surfboard modems will support 38Mbps according to their spec. I've done the calculations, and our system would handle this for our customer base. Unfortunately, our DS3 could NOT handle that many customers at 38Mbps:)
You sir have a nice vocabulary, yet you couldn't manage to RTFA. No life in prison for Metallica or Halo (though there should be, even if you did pay for it. har har)
CALEA isn't constant monitoring, its referred to as "Just in time" monitoring. IE: We're only supposed to sniff packets when someone shows us a nice piece of paper signed by a judge. Bandwidth and filtering isn't an issue. I've fought this at work as much as I can, but the higher ups fear what will happen if we don't comply. SAD state of affairs.:(
<action type="knee jerk"> Well, if the person reporting it was on myspace they OBVIOUSLY were there for one reason, and one reason only, the sexual solicitation of minors! They must be stripped of all basic human rights and treated as the leper they are! </action>
ohhh. Been there, done that. NCSA telnet on an old skewl mac to my box at home on dialup. Monilith dynamic dns. Except I was "Playing games" not hacking. Sadly, that teacher is still teaching Claris works or some crap like that while I manage the ISP division of a Telco/CatTV/ISP. *yawn*
Hmm, I've been on mediacom cable and Qwest DSL in the last year, pulled and pushed tons of data via bittorrent on both. (Full line speed while I was at work and sleeping, 50% throttle when I was home at night from 5PM to 10PM) I've never had a problem on either.
Then again if you're "Willing to pay for what you use" go leased line, you should be getting 100% sustained speed on those (Sans overhead).
You're still alive aren't you? ...

WTF? Seriously, how is "Over 25" "old"? Considering the average life span is up in the 70's or 80's now... uhg.. I'm not old damnit! *shakes fist*
Didn't you notice they changed it from "news for nerds that matters" or whatever... to "Our uptime, your downtime"..
If I remember right, Bank of America is running mostly Solaris, HP-UX, and Redhat.
;)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,690,000 for bank of america solaris.
Kthx, bbq.
I've toured their facility. One does not simply walk into their DC. :(
Got it.

Man, I thought my routes with AT&T were shitty.. guess it could be worse. :)
Ya know, this sucks so bad that I had to torrent some music at work to listen to since I didn't have my streams. :(
Cheers sir, and thank you for everything you've shown me. :)
:)
I still remember lessons on how air moves in nature and misc other things because of that show.

Denial? Thats all it takes? Ok, I'm going to deny all the bad things that have happened in my life and everything will just be better!
I guess ignorance IS bliss.
Thats theft of service! The MPAA and FCC would be all over them! :)

I have 7M/512K Mediacom at home. $9.99/mo. The ISP I work for has 1.5M/128K for $45/mo. OUCH. We're working on that though :)

I've had a handfull of customers email me on this one yesterday and today.
"This is the same as the last 'patch' email I told you we never send, delete it"

Why should X write about X being afraid of X, or X Xing X.. Really, Do these articles even matter, aside from igniting an obvious flame war?
To some of us, it is news. To be completely honest, it had never occurred to me that there would be caves on Mars.
