Its all about balance. The universe has a way of balancing things out. Sure it takes a long time in some cases and can get to an extreme... but it all balances in the end. If it didn't.. none of us would be here.:)
So you're blabbing about how easy it is to keep viruses off of your linux box, when the article is focused towards windows machines, which are not OMGEASY to keep viruses off of. Apples and oranges buddy.
Just curious... if you don't have an antivirus scanner... how do you know that you've never had a virus before? There are viruses that are passive enough that even a skilled admin might not notice them.:)
Mostly used by home users and small businesses? Personally, all the graphics shops I've delt with are using macs. Atleast half of the modeling agencies I've delt with used macs too. And up until a few years ago, I believe most video production studios used them too..
Then again, you posted as an AC.. Obviously you aren't secure about your opinions/facts enough to stand up for them..
How many smart investors put all their money on one stock?
Do you really think game companies are going to put all their apples in one basket?
More than likely they will diversify. FPS games aren't going away, and the other games aren't going away either. Producing all FPS games would be like all car manufacturers only making one style car.
US metrics showing more love for the FPS? NO WAY!!!
Men, this shit that some sources sling around about America wanting out of fps games, is a crock of bullshit. Americans love to fight, traditionally. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle over their 5.1 surround sound. You are here today for three reasons. First, because you are here to defend your virtual homes and your virtual loved ones. Second, you are here for your own self respect, because you would not want to be out fragged by a high ping bastard n00b. Third, you are here because you are real men and all real men like to fight. When you, here, everyone of you, were kids, you all admired the champion marble player, the fastest runner, the toughest boxer, the big league ball players, and the All-American football players. Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards. Americans play to win all of the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed.
I've liked them since the beginning. I started with FF on my crappy nintendo. Then came 2, 3, etc. Yeah, the games have some weak points, but it doesn't bother me. FF9 was the last one I completed. X just hasn't held my interest very much. I haven't played X2 yet, XII I have absolutely no interest in.
Why do I like them? I don't know. Its probably because FF was the first game I fell in love with. Kinda like that first car that sucked ass, but you'll always love it.
If they can manufacture this fast and cheap, then it should be cheap to the consumer (considering how many people are infected with HIV/AIDS)
On the other hand, if it is expensive to manufacture and takes a long time, then demand excedes supply and it will be expensive as hell.:(
Yeah.. I'm really sure that they're going to cut their own profits.
I haven't seen serious statistics on this, but my guess is most users are light web and email users. Which would make the telcos less money.
Example:
Current model:
5000 customers @ $50/month = $250,000 (Regardless of use, they pay the same)
New model:
500 power user customers @ $100/mont = $50,000 (These guys use alot of bandwidth)
4500 email and light web users @ $10/month = $45,000 (These guys barely use any band)
Current model gross income = $250K
New model gross income = $95K.
My employer (which is pretty small, but spread out) currently embraces skype for free voice communications between our many offices and telecommuniting employees. My employer also embraces most OSS software not only for the fact that it is more cost effective in most situations, but our inhouse programers can tweak the crap out of it.
I run my own email server. I've had it for years. Half my family is on it. They don't have to worry about changing ISPs now because they have their address on my server. I have a ton of friends at data centers and ISPs, so my server always has a home. Even at worst case I could put it on the end of my DSL.
Why do you hate auto-update? I love it. It means I don't have to sit on my ass while going to windowsupdate.. Gives me more time to work on the BSD servers.:)
I'm so tired of the "geek" fad, its nothing new. Most of us noticed it over a year ago. Since then I've moved to "IT Professional". Your standard "geek" or "wannabe geek" can't keep up with that.:)
I was thinking the exact same thing. Just get a bunch of 256 or 512M (even 1G) thumbdrives and have some poor soul start dumping portable OOo to each one (Might want to use some sort of automated script and a HUGE usb hub). And if you're buying 100's of thumbdrives I'm sure you could get some kind of volume discount.:)
OMG!! Lets get rid of bittorrent now!! It can't possibly have any use other than piracy!!! Lets make it "illegal software"...
At first I thought the title said "Bittorrent users guilt of piracy". I was like "Uh.. no"
I downloaded knoppix from a torrent last night.. only reason it caught my eye.:)
The only reason we are on windows workstations here at the moment is because we don't have linux support for most of stuff we use. We will be moving them to linux early next year because our main application runs alot smoother on linux, at which time we will use open office rather than MS office. Microsoft could have retained us as a MS office customer, but they choose not to support Linux. Oh well.:)

Wow, that response was so straight.
And with an additional 1.21 jiggawatts..... oh never mind.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. :)

Wow.. Pretty quick to judge eh? Did you ever think that maybe Google has a few more tricks laying around?
How many multi-national search and advertising businesses have you run that you know so much about the business?
Mostly used by home users and small businesses? Personally, all the graphics shops I've delt with are using macs. Atleast half of the modeling agencies I've delt with used macs too. And up until a few years ago, I believe most video production studios used them too..

You've obviously never seen my mother in law when she's been drinking (which is every day).

My point? *shrug* It's open for interpretation
Lol, that was extremely relevent :p

I'm a FF fan. Thus I care.
There are few things to consider on price.

Hey telco, you just decreased your gross income!
