I was stating anything about false memories, but memories created in virtual reality, and skills are memory based. I was just pointing out that learning skills in a virtual world is nothing new, in theory or reality.
No where in my post do I state anything about Neo screwing up in the real world from something he learned in VR.
I am not a huge Matrix fan. It could have been better. I prefer Equilibrium.

Oh please wise one, define those games that you play so the world can acknowledge your vast superiority in game choice.
And while you are at it? What defines refined taste in games? I think taste for games, music, beauty, is mostly subjective.
I think kids should be taught as many operating systems as possible. Sure I use Linux, Mac, and sometimes frit around with the BSD(free).
Some windows only games are good.
And sometimes, just sometimes, a net connection and windows will inspire someone to code, learn linux, and I would bet 80% of the newer users here started with windows.
1. Cingular ATT, has or had a service called fast forward. When you were home your cell plugged into a device that shifted all calls to the home line.
2. There are mobile voip clients that run on pocket pc cell phones. And in several countries are testing phones that had off between cellular and voip, whatever is most convenient, these will become more prevalent as everything becomes one ip network.
Cisco has apis with their IP phones that let you do all this. My companies it guys have written an amazing dialer, that recognizes time zone, work, tertiary numbers, and is automatic and works fairly well.
though personally, I like keeping work, cell, and home seperate. A bit of work/home convergence on the cell.

People or people, wherever you are, good and bad. Stop beleiving the revisionist history, sure the south has a bad rap, and bad shit goes on here, but where do you live?
I just resigned from around 4 years of my life working with a BellSouth Companies.
The problem with the fee is it is not the carriers fault, but the FCC.
Common carrier status legally has to let large telcos bill for third parties over their network. nothing Verizon can do about it, but hold off on the contested charges until the 30-60 days which they will do. You just have to call and tell them, and they can dispute it for you.
The Tele act of 1996 allowed this to happen, which is good in a lot ways, because now the Bells wholesale lines out to third parties and sometimes you can get cheaper rates, but it also opened a door for all these third party charges.
Verizon is only doing what the law says. And if they do not, the fees are crazy.
In manhunt you have to protect a bum and then a reporter in the end to complete missions in the game. And it is done well. The bum keeps wandering off.

I would say the early apple 2s and the Commodore 64 were the ones that cemented the pc game world. The Commodore was cheap and great. Also do not leave out the Trs-80 and the CoCos. Not everyone had the cash for a Mac, and when it came out most Apple guys did not like it at the time.
The original Pentium had the floating point error. If memory shows correct. And at that point in time and several years into the future intel reigned supreme. The k6 was not the best competitor when it came out.
As a former Cingular employee, who has since moved to Ma Bell(Bell South). Cingular is GSM and most phones do sync with the network time, GSM moreso that TDMA, which TDMA towers have almost been converted to GSM.
TDMA is analog, GSM is digital.
The phone will sync to the network time always, for the past two years most gsm phones out of the box do this.
Actually, second time you made this comment in the thread.
As a former escalation manager at Cingular,as of two weeks ago, I transferred over to a parent company.
Palm screwed the pooch on the Cingular Treos. The cellphone companies do not rewrite the firmware. Palm does to the specifications of each carrier.
Palm flubbed the firmware and issued a silent recall. I know I have replaced many and only until recently has Palmone released any decent ones. The only diffrence between unlocked palm ones is branding and a few other bells and whistles you can activate on them.
The only thing the carrier provides to palm is the algos for the unlock codes, and palm supplies each carrier with a keygen.
I can count three horrible batches from Palm of the top of my head.
Cingular support does leave a bit wanting, but call and ask for the PMC data group, front line CSRs do not know to much about the Palm.
Palm does not do GSM well at all. We test bacthed unlocked ones straight from the factory, and same issues.
Currently Sprint does have a better data network. Cingular is somewhat lacking, and hopefully they will get it together. I have seen some pretty neat stuff in a few test markets that was damned impressive. And that is me not showing company loyalty.
And what most people do not realize. Cingulars main tech center is located in Gulfport Missipi, another in Mobile, another in Miami, they got whacked pretty hard by the hurricanes in the middle of the network integration.
I have my own issues with Cingular. But I know a Cingular GSM phone will get your more coverage than a sprint one across the nation, I own a Sprint phone as well. Girlfriend is on sprint.
As somone who worked for a Mac centric company for a long time. We developed in Java for cross platform use. But Apple dicked with java just enough in the 1.4 day to damn audio and video, so we could create cross platform apps that actually work from windows, solaris, mac, bsd, etc. When our chat product when audio and video via the JVM, the only one that would not work was the mac, cause apple dicked with the jvm. God knows which could have interefered with ichat. WAIT a minute. Ichat was originally a chat room product that sold the name to apple and became Global Chat. Company I worked for then bought the former Ichat company. They moved to a flash based system which was easier than dealing with apple.
How long have you been with and what department? Trainers at Cingular tend to speak with authority, but are just tenured reps who generall have no business training. It is unfortuante, but cingular promotes the people who stay the longest, after they are burnt in customer care. Sound like you have not been with the company long.
Trainers have generally not been in the official mix for a long time and policies change. But I know we have been doing it quite awhile. In the two years I have been with the company.
It is called a subsidy unlock code. Use that as the keywords.
The legal issue of the matter is, if you fulfill the contractual obligations, or pay outright, the equipment is yours.
Trainers all tend do drink the company Kool-aid without having the real facts.
And point that out to your trainer, that she is giving false information to you, which when you do your job, is giving false information to clients, and thus even harming the company in this public forum due to his or her lack of knowledge, or ability to use CSP. Which if you are in a classroom situation they have should have had you reveiw the policy in class.
In the interest of the company and your job a good job with a customers, if you reply to this post that the email in your profile is active. I will ship you my corporate email address and if you respond from an official cingular email, I can further eloborate on this issue without stepping out of corporate policy.
I do not know what department, or if you are in retail or fincance(two deparments that tend to know nothing about the company) but you get the unlock codes. Check CSP. I think all employees should spend six months in customer care. I would ask your supervisor for a little training in this area.
There are rules.
1. If you buy the handset outright from Cingular. OR it is Cingular branded. 2. Six months of services good payment History. 3. International Travel recquires use of other sim cards. 4. Contractual obligations have been fulfilled and you own the equipment.
And a few more I do not recall of the top of my head. There is for you submit a department handles it.
Now, we do not unlock phones that we cannot trace back to the original owner because they are usually stolen.
Unlocking the phone at the end of the contract, or paid in full for equipment, is like giving you the pink slip.
As someone who works for Cingular. T-mobile does have their own network, but have pretty good agreements with us, and use a lot of Cingular towers in many other areas than in the one mentioned.
Sometimes we have issues at the switch level and t-mobile 611 calls are routed to our ops.
I work for Cingular, and not in a store. But in a place where I am pretty privy to scoop. And have heard nothing as of yet. The article merely is speculation on what could happen.
Your post states "Cingular, which absorbed AT&T Wireless in October 2004 when it was purchased by SBC and Bell South and now owned by ATT and Bell South" Cingular has always been owned by SBC and Bell South.
The only thing I could see happen is that Cingular could possibly be called "an ATT company" in tiny letters.
And actually now, if you are still on the ATT side of the company, you do not have to change equipment, you have been moved over.
Just my 2 cents. Although, it would be a bonus, as I am moving to the Bell Side, maybe some seniorty would transfer over.
Well grain of salt I work for Cingular. And own both phones in question.
V551 is a batter hog, I never used it to play mp3s other than the ringtones, and they tended to play fine. Mine kept crapping out on the charger port so finally the warranty department sent me a V3.
Great batter life, I charge it about every 5 days, sometimes six. Works well with all of my blue tooth headsets.
I did not want to like the V3 but mine has been a solid performer. The UI could use work, but the majority of the customers who escalate to my desk, tend to really like them as well.
