No, censorship is when any person with any kind of authority modifies a work for ethical, moral, or political reasons.

When any person with any kind of authority modifies the work? Even the artist? Seriously Mr. Clinton, why do you feel you need to redefine words? You're just spouting crap - who modified the work? Maybe the artist wanted two versions, and you can be sure that, whether done in the studio or electronically, they agreed to it somewhere in the fine print.

The reason for the landing gear part is because that is a 1 shot deal. Entry is a one-shot deal too. Post-deorbit burn, you're coming in whether you like it or not. There's some politics involved too. Flight software defines events as Major Modes - it'd be very simple to not allow the DeployLandingGear command to be issued outside the Approach and Land phase (MM305?). The politics come in by way of the astronaut office - by requiring a person to push the button, the astronauts are now assured of a job.

And those people are typically idiots. Sorry, this is one of my pet peeves. I've seen lines at the grocery store across the street selling their gas for 3 cents cheaper. You save less than a dollar on a tank of gas. And they grab a 16oz Coke on the way out for $1.29. So not only did they have to wait for 10 minutes to fill the tank to save 75 cents, but they pissed the savings away in a Coke. Worse yet, a Starbucks coffee.

There's much more efficient ways to save money than shopping around for gas. [stepping down]

I've had 2 issues with T-Mobile in the past 3 yrs. After 18 months, my boss was selling the company, but I wanted to keep my phone and transfer it into my name. I also wanted to get a different phone since the battery on mine was going bad. Their script said that I was not eligible for a phone upgrade since I was a "new" customer. However, if I'd have killed the acct (not under contract, so no cancellation fees) and signed up for a new one, they'd jump thru hoops throwing offers at me. They ended up offering me an upgrade, but I wasn't able to do it through the first line rep. I wanted to change plans over to the My Favs - but was told I couldn't because my Razor (less than 1 yr old) wasn't compatible. But if I bought a new Razr, it would be. My Favs is a flippin' billing issue, not a phone issue. If you're wanting to move phones, then say so. Why does it seem that cell phone companies only offer incentives to new customers? There seem to be no retention incentives at all. Why not offer better plans when you've been with them for X years?

Reminds me of this software reliability seminar I attended a few years ago. The lady presenting had created her own model that would predict the reliability of a project based on a couple dozen development environment variables and project complexity parameters - a lot of arbitrarily chosen and assigned values really. Then she tweaked the weight of each parameter (taken from less than a half dozen projects) and ta-da...a model. I asked if this approach might involve some smoke and mirrors, but she vehemently denied. Whatever, I suppose everyone has to make a living - but I recommended the company never to send anyone else to her seminar. :)

So they're all obviously interested in doing something similar, just seems like a lot of duplicated work.

Be sure to count the time on the phone with them, the downtime without the service, and the general BS that you have to put up with when speaking w/ customer service.

There's that and there's the time it cost you to put it all together and get it working.
