Sure there are jackasses who will call me a fanboy (or 'fanboi' which is just a stupid spelling), but I _do not want_ flash on my iPhone. I allow it to run infrequently, and only when there is no other option on my laptop (frankly, I wish I had the same h.264 hardware decoder on my laptop that I do on my phone, and that all web video solutions used straight h264 in an MP4 container, my laptop's battery would certainly be grateful). When I'm browsing the internet on my phone, I certainly do not want to waste the precious little bandwith, and precious little processor time/battery capacity on an aggravatingly slow "cross platform" API.

That's only because Flash performance is inversely related to the Northern latitude of the device performing it (multiplied by the displacement volume of the device). Down under there, the Northern latitude is negative so you're in good shape. Here in New York - flash is barely tolerable; for grannies in Florida, it works reasonably well. Yeah, Apple is kind of being a dick to Adobe, by not letting them play in their sandbox, but really - Flash is a load of crap on a desktop OS. It uses all available processor for whatever task it's trying to accomplish. I do not want something with those characteristics on a device that I don't keep plugged in all time.

So while you may be annoyed, the marketing/advertising folks (who are _very_ good at measuring the effectiveness of online ad campaigns) undoubtedly see a larger rate of conversions from this type of ad (say 0.04% versus 0.01% (these numbers were generated rectally, and are purely for example)), and as a result are repeating the strategy. These folks are absolutely driven by the numbers that they measure. Even if they get more annoying for you, there is no doubt that it's working, at least as far as the advertisers are concerned.

Adderall is composed of Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine. It's speed, plain and simple. Taken at a controlled dosage on a controlled schedule, it is not likely to cause particularly severe problems (as far as modern medicine knows, anyway). Taken in an uncontrolled fashion, without a schedule, it can easily lead to addiction and abuse, and I'm reasonably certain that it can cause other physiological issues (high doses of Adderall can't be good for your heart). A friend of mine abused this stuff, and he had all the signs of a speed freak (he'd go on binges of the stuff and stay up for days). When his monthly prescription ran out, he'd switch to other stimulants to deal with the withdrawal (cocaine and ecstasy). I suppose he's lucky that meth isn't as readily available here on the east coast as it is on the west, or he may have killed himself already. IANAD, TINMA.

That fatality rate (of zero), while possibly helped a bit by safety features, is helped out quite a bit more by the removal of idiot drivers. The test to be allowed to race a Formula 1 is _much_ harder than the test to drive a normal car, and selects out the idiots quite effectively. I guarantee that if you put a sampling of non-professional drivers in Formula 1 cars and sent them to the tracks to drive at Formula 1 speeds (together), you could get a fatality in no time.

The router also comes with WEP enabled on the WiFi, and the password set to the (wired, internal) mac address of the device (out of the box, not done by the tech). This was all true approximately 3 years ago, when I was doing tech support for small businesses in an area with good accessibility to FiOS. Feel free to question my credibility - I have very little interest in providing any proof for this, it was merely an anecdote from my experience with dealing with those (crappy) Verizon routers that I was relaying.

That is simply a load of male bovine excrement. It's their support board, and Apple is removing the fucking flame wars that have been started about the report. They're not even that effective in their censorship (if you take a quick gander at the discussion boards, there are plenty of mentions and links to the Consumer Reports' findings, and a handful of flame wars that have no place on a support board and *should* be removed). Apple is not Big Brother - they can't be, they simply do not have the power. Folks need to stop crying wolf and keep their eyes peeled on those who *do* have the power (the federal government).
