You want a problem? Why is it that the precrime agency gets notifications that Anderton has gotten on a Metro (due to the retina scanners that are EVERYWHERE) but when he uses his old eyes to get into precrime, they see nothing. They don't even go looking for him until they see Agatha in the prediction and realize that he will eventually come back to get her.

The girl I was with asked me this, and I think I thought of a pretty good answer.
The entrances to the temple (and all the temple computers) are not on any system that connects to anything outside. Imagine if that dream place guy could hack into Agatha, then he might be able to hack the precog computer if he had some connection to get through (I don't know enough about firewalls to say if this is resonable). He'd cause potential chaos, calling the wrong people as future murderers.
So they don't even let it touch any exterior system. This is very secure, but very silly in a practical sense. And they should have taken Anderton off any password protected doors very early on.

Given that cells of your body don't live long, you are a new, reborn person, every N years.

Except for your nerve cells, where as far as we know, consciousness is stored. You get a set when you are born, and you stay with them until you die. The replacement doesn't include them.

I could be wrong; I don't have any "sources" or "actual information" to back this up. That wouldn't be very /. of me, would it?

This is totally valid. However, if your password is stolen because /. or Hotmail is cracked, then wouldn't the site which the password was stolen from (following Maggard's logic in "The Hard Way") be responsible? I mean, it would be terrible to lose all your personal or business files, but unless you were specifically told to pick a different password, you could just pass the buck to the people who allowed your password to be stolen. They then can pass the buck on to the site-cracker, if they can find them. If every individual is responsible for personal passwords, then I believe that websites, unless they have big disclaimers, are compelled to take atleast the same responsibility.
