  1. Price is important on Apple Movie Store Only Serving Disney Films? · · Score: 5, Insightful

DVDs are pretty cheap these days. If this service is not cheaper than a DVD, I wouldn't use it. This is why I think Amazon's service might not be all that popular. Can I burn it to a DVD? No, I'm probably just buying lower quality, DRM files that take forever to download - and its MORE than a DVD. No way.

I'll probably try Apple's service. Wiht their TV shows on iTunes, the problem has been lack of variety. That will apparently continue to be a problem with films on this service.

When I read the GPP, I assmed he meant that the console would have two DVD drives instead of one so that you could insert both disks at the same time. Upon reading his comment more carefully, I realize that he actually meant swapping the disks in and out. If the console involved swapping disks in and out, then I for one would not buy or play such a console.

If it isn't usable within 4-6 months, I think you will see at least one major OEM finding some other OS to ship as the default.

Yes, companies like Dell are saying they want to ship OS X, but I doubt they would currently be willing to ship OS X as their default OS. If Vista isn't working by spring '07, they may be offering to do exactly that.

Admittedly, there's still stuff like equipment, but even that is either minimized or standardized in many sports.

But not all sports. Consider something like the America's Cup (yahting), or even auto racing. The whole thing is about who has the money to spend on equipment. Or even in professional golf. The really good players make enough money that they can afford to fly from tournament to tournament. They show up well rested - the lesser known players often have to drive and show up less well rested. Being well rested is definately an advantage and they are clearly paying for it.

In online gaming, having money to buy cool things makes the game more entertaining. If it isn't stupid to pay for games in the first place, why is it stupid to pay a little more to make the experience more fun??
