DVDs are pretty cheap these days. If this service is not cheaper than a DVD, I wouldn't use it. This is why I think Amazon's service might not be all that popular. Can I burn it to a DVD? No, I'm probably just buying lower quality, DRM files that take forever to download - and its MORE than a DVD. No way.
I'll probably try Apple's service. Wiht their TV shows on iTunes, the problem has been lack of variety. That will apparently continue to be a problem with films on this service.
OK, but if you are playing a game like Madden, you want to hear him make different comments when different plays happen. I can imagine that with only 2.5 days of comments, it would get old real quick.
When I read the GPP, I assmed he meant that the console would have two DVD drives instead of one so that you could insert both disks at the same time. Upon reading his comment more carefully, I realize that he actually meant swapping the disks in and out. If the console involved swapping disks in and out, then I for one would not buy or play such a console.
Tell us all about since you are sitting at the negotiating table. Oh, wait, you're not. I'm pretty sure all Dell would offer right now is to become another Power Computing and just drain Apple's profits. For it to be a serious offer, they would have to agree to put it on some large number of machines.
The guy kidnapped a little girl and kept her for 8 years. He's obviously a nut case. I don't think you can back his choice to use a Commodore 64 with reason.
On Slashdot, we don't think he's crazy for hideous crimes. We think he is crazy for using an old computer.
In that case recovering is probably not possible and as far as I know there is not much you can do to avoid it.
If it were joe schmo's browser, I'd say yes. Given that it is Microsoft they could do some non-technical things like call the authors on the phone, get to the bottom of the matter, and get the bugs fixed. Given the timetable that they have had, they have had ample opportunity to do this.
If Vista isn't at least usable when it gets into the hands of mainstream computer buyers/users, it will be a serious blow to Microsoft and will affect their bottom line.
If it isn't usable within 4-6 months, I think you will see at least one major OEM finding some other OS to ship as the default.
Yes, companies like Dell are saying they want to ship OS X, but I doubt they would currently be willing to ship OS X as their default OS. If Vista isn't working by spring '07, they may be offering to do exactly that.
Exactly. Why are the obstacles to riding a bicycle? Rain (who wants to be wet/cold?) and cars (who wants to be run over/run off the road by cars?). The Segway solves neither of these problems while at the same time adds another problem - battery life.
I remember that quote about how cities would be re-designed around the thing
This idea was completely over the top. Cities weren't even re-designed for automobiles - new cities were designed around them, but existing cities were not redesigned (that's why driving downtown is always a mess in most places.)
Because WEP isn't all that secure. There are many standards you could use - WEP, WPA, WPA2, and others. and unless you know the requirements for the situation, you don't know which one people need.
Admittedly, there's still stuff like equipment, but even that is either minimized or standardized in many sports.
But not all sports. Consider something like the America's Cup (yahting), or even auto racing. The whole thing is about who has the money to spend on equipment. Or even in professional golf. The really good players make enough money that they can afford to fly from tournament to tournament. They show up well rested - the lesser known players often have to drive and show up less well rested. Being well rested is definately an advantage and they are clearly paying for it.
In online gaming, having money to buy cool things makes the game more entertaining. If it isn't stupid to pay for games in the first place, why is it stupid to pay a little more to make the experience more fun??

The mistake apple made with the cube was price. A minimally expandable cube was the same price as a fully expandable powermac.
No it wasn't - The cube was about $300 more than the equivalently spec'd PowerMac G4.

Because Microsoft is incapable of creating a superior product, therefore I know for certain that the XBox 360 sucks before I ever look at one.
A compile an overview of what kind of user actually is stupid enough to respond, B educate them or C ban them for being to stupid to live.
Why stop there? Launch missles at them!
gay people can't pick out who's hot?? That is the exact opposite of my experience with the gay people I know.
Mine was USB only and didn't come with the cable. OTOH, it was a $100 laser printer.

WHy spend $20 extra for the 20% of customers that will use one?
Do you really think the price to Sony for an HDMI cable is $20 in the Bill of Materials? If so, you are mistaken.
No, they still don't. At least my new laser printer did not come with any cables other than the power cable.
Is this type of thing similar to Van Ecks effect?
it is the physical characteristic fo the hardware itself that provides the "fignerprint" - not software.
If I take a screwdriver and bend some of the metal around the shielding on the wifi unit, will it alter these characteristics?
It was able to turn Steve Wozniak into a world class athlete.

Too bad the rest of the states can't seem to learn from California's success.
Yeah, those idiots in Nevada should get a whole bunch of ocean coastline.
You are actually supposed to turn the gas off and then put a mixture of water and soap on the pipes, then turn the gas back on and look for bubbles.

Both political parties do stupid things. When the democrats do stupid things, it is often things like this.
The stupid things republicans do are typically a little different.
Making your own T-Shirts is fun. I have made some silk screens. I could probably make you a shirt that says you were eaten by a lion.
