When end users disassemble the code searching for clues, your comments wouldn't be there. You need to use hex codes that spell out secrets and use them as constants and magic numbers in the code.
For example, you might use 0XA991DEAD as a magic number if you want to cast a pall over the future of the company and make money by shorting the stock.
I have to second that. I personally do not do text messaging and I don't use any of the internet features (I might use them if they didn't suck, but that is another story.)
As a phone, it is very small, it works well with blue tooth and my Mac. I have no problems getting pictures on and off. It was easy to make my own ringtone for it and get it onto the phone. It fits in my pocket really well. I like the charger. The battery life is great. And the phone looks cool. I've always kind of wanted a flip phone, but I always was finding features I liked better in other phones. (I used to have a Treo 600 and before that a Sony T68i.)
I have used a LOT of different IDEs and I actually am pretty impressed with XCode. Since I spend very, very little actual time using Interface Builder, who cares that it is a separate program? There are some things that could be better, but it is very nice, especially for a free product.
At one time, Apple was going around telling people they would have to rewrite their apps in Dylan. They were out of touch. For a long time, the best professional development tools were not made by Apple. It was Think, then Synmantec, then Metrowerks.
Also, developing with Win32 is free, while Qt costs money for development licenses.
A full Qt seat costs $3,000. This is NOTHING. Please! This is not even an argument that anyone would make in real life. The only time I have ever gotten any push back on stuff like this would be things that require royalty based licenses (which Qt does NOT require.)
A good example would be FMOD. FMOD is a cross platform sound API that runs on lots of computers and also the game consoles. You have to contact the company that makes it and negotiate a license. THis is a pain in the ass - I don't know what they charge. Qt, with a flat 3K, is a no brainer.
That said, Qt is not that common for games. Also, Qt is not a magic bullet with open gl. I'm working with Qt right now - I've used it for years at various companies. The biggest obstacle is usually convincing people that there is value in creating cross platform applications, not a business case for the minimal cost of Qt.
They don't want it to seem too easy. They have to make it at least somewhat convincing. Otherwise, the public would demand their budget to be cut. (You see, what they really do is line their own pockets and then just fake everything.)
Basically the author comes up with a convoluted reason to oppose mod chips which all resolve to the same basic argument: Microsoft should dictate how you use your property - you should not have a moral right to decide how to use your own property that you paid for.
If you are in the business of selling online ads (as Google and Co are in), then you obviously want to increase the value of this kind of advertising by reducing click fraud.
While I normally would agree that a shield law is beneficial, pretty much all the reporters I've had the misfortune to meet or talk to are assholes (with the exception of David Morgenstern who I have spoken with and he is very nice.)
So, I say, screw 'em. And I can't think of a better case to do it over. Islamic "charities".
In cases of monopoly this might make sense, but Sony is trying to lauch a new format here. Keeping the prices inflated (for any reason) is going to drive consumers towards HD-DVD.
It would be a perfectly valid argument except that Sony has a long track record of shooting themselves in the foot in exactly this manner.
At one time ejecting a disk on a Mac was very counter-intuitive. There was a menu item called "Eject Disk", but you usually didn't want to use it as it left a "shadow icon" of the disk on the desktop. If any software tried to access that disk (user clicks the icon, or often if a File Open or File Save dialog is invoked, etc.) the computer would ask (no, DEMAND) the disk back. The correct way to eject a disk was to drag the disk's icon to the trash. Later, they added a menu item called "Put Away" which could be used to do the same thing.
These days (especially in MacOS X) they have made it easier. Also, in MacOS X if you start dragging a disk icon, the trash turns into an Eject icon.

90% of the time I only have my phone, my keys, and my wallet in my pocket.
Clearly, we need a converged iPod/Phone/Wallet/Keychain/spare change holder device.
Those new fangled things??
I prefer the type of phone that you crank in order to get the operators attention, and then say "Maybel, connect me to my mother."

They have their act together now.

What about the great hordes of corporate Microsoft certified IT weenies
If MS drops the ball hard enough, for long enough, Apple will take these customers.

Robert Kennedy made grandiose predictions about going to space? Is that why the Palestinians killed him right after he won the California primary?
With all of the advancements in CG, I expect it will be far easier and cheaper to "land on the moon".
I heard pixar got the contract to create the moon base...
No one seems to respect my freedom to do things they don't like. So, why should I support anyone else's? Fuck 'em.

You are right - nothing is completely foolproof.
That was a problem with punch ballots and bad design. There are no similar problems with scan-tron type paper ballots.
If you are using windows, your computer will be an object of pure spyware.
sn't the PlayStation 3 essentially going to decide the "better" format?
I am curious - what is it like to work at Sony?

My motorcyle insurance was $250 for a whole year for full coverage!!
(Of course, I am in my mid 30s, have an excellent driving record, and I don't have a sports bike...)
Where would the average slashdotter ever go that would take 5 whole minutes?
Taco Bell?
It is OK. At 27, you probably should be scared to have children :-)
Just kidding.
