BB has several major advantages already: a huge, existing inventory of movies and actual stores.
I read in the financial press recently that these things are actually big disadvantages for Block Buster. Apparently Block Buster is havings lots of problems because the cost of buying DVDs is so low that most people buy rather than rent.
Because the 9 year old asked the mother to buy it and she said yes.
She sounds like exactly the kind of parent that then pitches a bitch about it when she discovers the game has prostitution, drugs, and violence. (Oh, my!)
Personally, I see a kid buying a video-game his parents wouldn't approve of as a WONDERFUL opportunity to teach him a hell of a lesson - When the parents catch him with it, they can make him take it and put it in the shredder page by page, disc by disc, destroying 50+ dollars of his own hard-earned money. You just don't get that same kind of lesson from a shopkeeper telling him to take a hike.
Then anyone who ever leaves their teen child alone for any amount of time has this problem. (Even stepping out of the room.) Or anyone who allows them to visit a friend's house without being there watching the children the whole time.
It has been explained twice in this thread and you still don't get it. ICANN is not like an invention that buy or copy - it is an organization that you join that has pre-existing rules. For example, the United Nations has a security council with 5 veto members. If some new country joins the UN, they shouldn't complain that they don't have veto power in the security council. The joined knowing that they would not have a veto power.
Same with ICANN - you join knowing that the US controls it. Don't like? Don't join.
The last time I checked, the pr0n movie industry makes like 10x what Hollywood movies make just from US revenues alone. Since something like 85% of the US is christian, either the atheists are buying a heck of a lot of pr0n, or else Christians are buying pr0n too.
Therefore, if they just stopped buying it, they would probably reduce the amount of it available just due to the laws of supply and demand.
You make the most persuasive argument for.xxx that I have heard so far. Congratulations.
One problem I see with it is that lots of pr0n companies do in fact get paid per impression for ads. Therefore, they are likely to continue to try to get around filters. Many pr0n companies try all sorts of things to get people to "accidentally" view their site. I don't see how.xxx will stop that.
I think that there are lots of pr0n sites that make their money off of subscriptions, etc. and I could easily imagine those sites voluntarily moving to.xxx. And furthermore, I consider those types of sites to be more "legitimate" and "responsible". OTOH, there are lots of pr0n spammers and other tricksters who will not voluntarily move and who would continue to be a problem.
Dude, they don't even have the source code for the Newton OS anymore (from what I have heard from insiders.) The Newton *name* by itself probably isn't very valuable. The iPod OS doesn't really have the power necessary for a PDA.
They said they were done with "Power" which they were using for pro systems and instead switch to "Mac" for pro systems. So, maybe they are done with "i" for consumer systems and they will switch to "a" (standing for Apple - duh!)
Totally irrelevant. The GPP stated they only release office for a single platform which is clearly false. It is totally irrelevant that there are other products released on a wider variety of platforms.
The last time I priced an iPod battery replacement kit, I could get one for $19. I realize that not all of the replacement kits are that cheap, but the one for my 2nd generation 20GB model happens to be $19. The others are still in the $24.00 range if you own a 3rd or 4th gen iPod.
Um, Microsoft has always made their office suite available for multiple platforms. Ever since the first version for Windows shipped, it has been available on two platforms: Mac and Windows. OK, in the VERY beginning it was Mac only, but since the late 80s it has been available for Mac and Windows.
Dell is the one who decides to put Windows on their computers. They could choose to put BeOS or Linux or something else. They are Microsoft's largest customer. They could go to Microsoft and demand that they do more to address these issues. Therefore, they are at least partially responsible for the low quality of Windows.
If you are going to make fun of Apple, the better way to do it is to name technologies they have shipped, the promptly abandoned:
QuickDraw GX - Make everyone rewrite printer drivers for no good reason. Publish/Subscribe - Lots of effort by third party developers to implement a feature no one wanted. Power Mail - An optional install with System 7.5 - it's like email, only more confusing. Apple Dylan - A new programming language that was actually killed before it shipped. Open Doc aka "Live Objects" - The technology that brought us the wonderful web browser Cyberdog. Newton BookMaker - Pay hundreds of dollars to buy a tool that allows you to learn a complicated new language to create readable text files for a Newton. Voice Passwords - "My voice is my password." Except on MacOS X.

I tried NetFlix. I found them to be the Three Stooges of internet commerce. And not in a good way either.
I'd rather make out with my second cousin any day than run Windows on my Mac. Of course, Brooke Shields happens to be my second cousin (really.)
They co-created the CD with Phillips. Also they came up with the memory stick which pretty much sucks.

Yes. The lesson clearly is "Dad's a facist."

Clearly we need to raise the game buying age to 21.
Because some people, convinced that prayer will cure them, will decline medical treatment.
Again, who cares?

But maybe they don't get paid per click at all?
Many such sites get paid per impression rather than per click.

Duh. I'd bring back Tasha Yar from the dead! And have sex with her!

If you think lying for a living is cushy, why don't you become a lobbyist?

What did Yahoo! do that was illegal? There is nothing said about what was illegal.
Companys have to do something illegal now for you to sue them? WTF? I thought you could sue them for your own stupidity.
I assumed that it was half of all teenagers: 99.99% of the boys and 0.01% of the girls.
I think you are referring to Stuffit Expander. They don't ship it anymore and Stuffit Expander was actually the best at the time. So was IE for Mac.
