    I don't buy books from Amazon.

    The 1-Click patent doesn't just affect Amazon, it also affects people who've paid Amazon to use it (Apple, for example) but also hinders other online stores who might want to add it to their store.

    I mean, we (as geeks) must be a large % of sales.

    If we all stopped buying O'Reilly books until he did the decent thing and knocks the '1-Click' patent off the face of the earth, it might help speed things along.

    Doom ported nicely to the SNES too. I think I have the first copy in the UK, I won it in a contest in Super Play magazine.

    That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

    I had a mini Char-G car, but a pirate version from China. It had some fantastic comedy instructions, but sadly it's at work.

    On a Yo-Yo...

    All this is fine, but really what Free Software needs is a tool like Visual Basic (the later versions) that

    a) works
    2) can take VB and convert
    d) can compile nicely to multiple architectures.

    As far as I know, nothing like this is available for GNU/Linux. The nearest thing I know like this, is RealBasic for Mac - now can produce binaries for X86, but it's not free.

    Heh, thanks for sticking up for me.

    I'd be interested to hear your reasons about KDE, I use GNOME because it's what I'm used to, and what seems to run faster. Also, they seem to be getting good with usability.

    I don't think anyone ever bashed the interface on the iPod. It's the mp3 player that my mother was able to figure out in less than two mins.

    Just make sure you install gnome and emacs. Someone is bound to say KDE and vi, but real people who actually want to work, I feel KDE is too much like eye candy.

    Gnome 2.6 is where it's at.

    emacs is the editor for the GNU generation. Real work gets done in it, though I guess it can be bulky if you just wanna edit a .conf
