Just y'day there was an article on a UK firm doing a school Linux project using Win4Lin. This product uses SCOde, and isn't suited for true Linux enthusiasts.
The daunting issues aren't with logging, rather with tapping. In a client-server setup (e-mail) it's pretty simple (apparently) to intercept and probe messages. Value added services (Spam, HTML, worms, viruses, etc.. ) can be provided as well. If the world shifted to encrypted peer-to-peer instant messages, many shady firms could go broke!
Actually caffeine has been known to cause erectile dysfunction, or simply put; "Staying Up Problem". If you really want to stay up all night (not coding!), then don't touch caffeine!
Real coders need REAL Caffeine (TM). Considering the bloatware that comes from MS, packaged with lesser useful stuff, I guess the developers over there should be the biggest customers for this!
Seriously, if I wanted less caffeine, I'd drink less coffee! What's all this nonsense about? What next? Bio-engineered hunans to think less, and consume more? Eeekk!
Watch out for new version of Hotmail...

That accidentally doesn't work with this Mozilla any more... now that AOL's approved of IE and sunk Netscape and abandoned Mozilla (yet?), this is the next in line.
``We don't think all commercial e-mail should be banned,'' he said. Microsoft favors self regulation by the industry ``to establish standards that can evolve over time,'' he said."
Yeah... like we all know how the industry self-regulated itself during the browser wars, virus wars and virus-alert wars. We all know how 'Java' and 'Trustworthy Computing' and 'DRM' - 'Evolved' over time.
Looks like MS is suing now, since they may not get another chance once a sensible law is passed.
" I like the Washington law better, the one that Microsoft is suing under."
Why? 'Cos the ISP (Internet Spam provider) gets to sue on your behalf (the user) and reap profits? Is spam is so inevitable and untracable, why not allow users to profit from it; if at all they succeed in tracking the source.
It's amazing how while suing spammers and getting all the good PR, MS is also blocking anti-spam legislation. http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercuryne ws/business/61 13665.htm
"We have personnel around the world engaged in those battles, and we are tapping that expertise and working with these people to fight spam as well." Can't they do the simple exercise of examining their own user's spam - hotmail users can give billions in a day.
If hotmail users could even get $5 per spam, they'd be richer than Tiger Woods.
SCO's actually like Tiger Woods or Annika Sorenstam - they get daily press coverage despite finishing 20th and 95th!! SCO insists on misusing this and tries to sling mud on all and sundry.
I'd like Linus to file a defamation suit against SCO and ask them to shut up, like the LinuxTag group did. Knowing Linus, and his meek DRM stance, I doubt he'd do it.
SCO's approach seems to scare everyone that Linux is illegal dynamite, waiting to blow a hole through their purses. If they're really concerned and ethical, should they not go upfront and declare the violations in the code and be done with it?
Secondly, what if someone had poisoned the code over a period and SCO's blowing the whistle now? Something like the tcpdump files getting infected with a trojan?

Which is the free society? How does yelling 'SARS, SARS, SARS' help? If it does, put SCO, SCO, SCO!! in your sig, and Linux will be free.
Not trolling, but atleast the Chinese seem to have a point. If Freedom of the Press can't nail SCO, how can censorship be blamed. SCO's bluff was called in Germany, Poland and Australia - but not in the US. Why? How many of the 1,500 SCO letters were addressed within the US?
A free society is not necessarily an informed one. A controlled society may actually be good for all.
"Win4Lin Terminal Server 2.0 is derived from proven technologies developed for Unix® based operating systems over the last 15 years, most notably those of SCO® (Caldera®), under the product name of Merge(tm)"
I remember a SCO product named Tarentella which did something like thin clients, but wasn't good enuff in our setup. Must we promote SCOde and SCO technology in schools ?
Can I get one for Windows XP?? I'll need 2 secs to hit Save!
All of the above.
Please... let's get the 'right' SCO pulicity in here please. Not alarmist Forbes articles.
For some strange reason, Win4Lin gets mentioned several times at Slashdot. This uses SCO technology for the past 15 years. Here's a link:

Seeing MS is licensing SCOde, XP shouldn't be a problem - for now.
Here's the NeTraverse link- I've not done HREF yet - sorry:

Less of SCO, more of GNU, GPL I say!
Seeing that the trend these days is 'all-in-one' 'commodity' and chipset-based rather than board-based, will a new interface standard help?
With Intel controlling most standards and coming up with powerful chipsets, there could be few users for this technology.
Only exceptions could be video card makers, but they'd be better off buying non-commodity stuff instead.

Who should go broke first - brokers or firms?
Hey brokers! Sell SCO! Sell SCO!! Sell SCO!!! Sell SCO!!!! Sell SCO!!!!! Sell SCO !!!!!!
Got the message?
Okay.. now log all you want.
Can't they simply use Echelon instead??
SCOffee contains 70% lesser caffeine, much like SCOde which is 70% junk!

The news item states 15 spammers, 13 in the US and 2 in the UK. Bang goes your theory.

Okay.., while we bash the draconian dragon that is China, let's stop a while and think of other 'informed' societies.

How many of the millions of car owners in the US knew that they had 'black boxes'.
How many of the 1,500 receipients of SCO's extortion letters registered a protest of any description?
How many are aware that MS is stifling a project named 'Schnazzle' - on questionalbe grounds?
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesst
How is it that Germany, Poland and Australia have protested and asked SCO to shut up, while the silence in the US is deafening?
Why is it that cellphones and cellphone tech is more advanced in China than in the US?
A free society does not gurantee fairness.
A (seemingly) unfair society does have benefits.
