This is Fedora releasing in June (possibly) not Red Hat's next release which will be a year and a half from now.
We had our greatest economy ever without giving one US dollar for one gallon of oil from Iraq. Why is it all of a suddon the life blood? The only oil we got from saddam was in excange for twinki's which amounted to 3-5% of our total oil consumption. 55% was domestic, 20% from saudi and the rest from all over like venezuela for instance. These are only facts, 3-5% from Iraq and our economy was the strongest it was ever been.
There is one other thing I coincider a significant point.. Saddam would sell us oil.. do you think for a second he'd say no to selling the #1 oil consumer? hahaha If all we wanted was to buy oil we could have avoided this whole thing and just....*gasp* bought some. It wouldn't cost 86 Billion a year just for the right to buy it either.
No a mistake would be fine, pulling a story out of your ass is an entirely different one. c'mon she said the terrorists 'warned' her. How sweet of them don't you think? Kidnap and gun point, threaten to kill you, except money in trade for your life, but they care enough to warn you your life may be in danger from the enemy!? WTF kind of crack are people on to buy this garbage? Seriously. Her story was made up in hopes to rally people to her side of growing annimosity towards americans. And for the most part it worked to some degree.
I'm aware the US has propaganda of its own but Europeans need to see their sh*t stinks too.
We (the CIA) helps put Saddam Hussein into power, we provide him with chemical weapons 'precursors' so he can fight 'our enemies'.... he gasses and tortures 100,000 of his own people, but we don't care.
But we do care, infact we cared so much the US and England were amung one of the few countries to stick to our guns on the sanctions. Nobody else cared they still traded with Iraq giving the mad man more money even after finding out about his plans to take over the middle east. Infact an interesting note is that Russia, China, France and Germany all had business deals with Iraq at the time of us going in there.. Quite the coincidence how they didn't want us to go there huh?
No didn't you hear me say she used a tragedy (killing of the itallian) to further her cause. Americans and English have shot at eachother on several occations, Americans have shot other americans. Remember the NFL player who went to fight and ended up dying? that was friendly fire but did anyone go around saying it was a conspiracy by Bush? There are alot of people at work trying awefully hard to make america lose. Not all of them are terrorists.
That's well-documented, and horrific. It also has nothing to do with detainees in Afghanistan
Bingo it doesn't. But what does this NSA topic have to do with beatings in Cuba? Nothing but it was modded insightful because many, many people here love to hear of stories where the Americans are made to look bad.
Torture produces bad intelligence. People will say anything to make it stop.
Public knowledge that we torture and kill prisoners is also a fine recruitment tool for terrorists.
You know what else is a good recruitment tool? Giving them nothing to fear. We build irragation farms to give water to the people and terrorists blow it up yet who do they yell at.. "you stupid americans can't you fix it faster!" Trust me these people are not short on reasons to hate. Abu ghraib and two soldiers killed while in custody apparently out weighs the 150 people killed in a car bomb, the bodies being dragged through streets, schools being built by us and blown up by them. Yet Europe/Arab nations want no part of it, they'd rather write about how evil the americans are. Now you tell me what do you think hurts your safty more, stories of abused prisoners once every 5 years or "journalists" and bloggers spitting their hate of the USA to every ear who is there.
Look at this itallian journalist for instance. A known hater of the U.S. wants to come out and say she was targeted and that the terrorists warned her of how the americans wanted her dead. She used a tradigty to push her agenda of hate, that is basically what a slashdotter did in this thread and he was modded insightful for it because his opinion falls inline with many here.
Where are the google links to the americans body parts being dragged through streets and hung upside down from overpasses? Oh thats right we want to create the illusion that these two soldiers are the norm and that american soldiers are being ordered to do this daily. If I was a soldier there and someone was laughing about blowing up cafe's full of children promising he will one day do it again, you know I might just beat him to death too, on accident of course I might get carried away after kicking him in the head about 4 times. But thats me acting with emotion and hatred for the enemy. Its not an order. Humans are humans lets not pretend they can not lose control. If you want to compare this to nazism I highly suggest reading up on history. Two soldiers being beat to death by other soldiers is hardly close to nazi attrocities.
Nice commercial, you've done well for yourself in spreading the hate.. push on soldier.
I just love U.S. == Nazi posts, they remind me of how soon people forget and how easy it is to brain wash.
Someone in cuba only gets 3 hours of sleep a day.. thats just.. hitler would be proud. I wont even mention the fact they don't have cable. I get chills everytime I think of it.
Most of those guns were around when Saddam was in power.
Yeah but weren't those stashes saddam's henchman's? Thats not the same thing as say every citizen having a gun. (you think the kerds were allowed AK-47's?)
The black panther movement in the US was basically a bunch of angry black guys pissed off at cops so they carried guns. They never fired off a shot but you listened. Because they were saying we have the ability to fight, win or lose we'll be heard.
I don't own a gun, and wont buy one until they try to take them away cause most likely thats when i'll need it most.
I'm wasting mod points here, but guns still do matter. Look at Iraq. The US military has offered money for guns they're trying to take the weapons out of the hands of the insurgents, the blow up stashes of weapons every day. Why if they "don't matter"? They absolutly do matter those guns kill marines just as well as the Marines guns kill insurgents. Guns give the underdog hope that he has a chance which means they're more likely to fight. Sometimes that is all that is needed to make people listen and perhaps in the future my country (the US) will want to make people listen.
Yes the government has bombs, planes, tanks, etc. But remember when a revolution occures soldiers on both sides still know they are the same people and do not want to slaughter them all. They only want to win their minds. Why do you think we haven't gone to north Korea? South Koreans don't want us to. They are still thought of as brothers and they do not want to kill them. Atleast this is what a S. Korean told me about his people back home.
There have been 20 threads where people say "I moved from RH to suse cause its cheaper" but you're the first one I've seen to list prices. I knew these other people were full of it. I expected them to be the same price or maybe a few bucks more for brand name.
I doubt there are stats showing Red Hat beating out Novell of total contracts. There are some facts though; one fact is that 40% of Red Hats sales are overseas and being that they have 49% percent of the linux server market (SuSE has 11.8% according to netcraft) Id say its fair to make the statment Red Hat is everywhere including Europe. Red Hat has an office in Munich you know and they won out a contract for the second largest IP provider in Germany.
Yes these are stats so they have a million variables but "red hat is only big in the USA and suse owns europe" is not very accurate either which we hear constantly on slashdot.
Dell Calls For Red Hat To Lower Prices
Think about that headline for a second.. Linux has really hit the bigtime. A pure play OSS company with the power of Sun, IBM, DELL, HP? I knew there was a movement, but Red Hat wedging its way in amung the big boys is quite the accomplishment. Kudos you guys.
Only M$ drops prices, no other business has ever competed with a rival before and had a price war. Red Hat can be so much like M$ its scary! where is a guinness commercial when you need one? Brilliant!
You are part right, Red Hat is at the front of business linux so it gets attention but make no mistake about it, if there was no red hat they'd attack your distro, or his distro. They learned from SCO if you attack linux you get the horns from the entire OSS community, but if you go after the successfull "microsoft of linux" evil red hat, well then you are safe to badmouth linux.
Any Linux distro is a threat to Sun. Sun is attacking Red Hat because they can get away with it. They couldn't attack the linux kernel without looking like SCO and having the community rip them to peices. Sun knows the "community" has a certain distain for Red Hat mostly because of its success. So they bad mouth linux all they want aslong as they call it Red Hat.
I didn't read the legal speak and admittingly couldn't understand it if I did. But if I can't download the source, recompile it and sell it as qwertyx 11 then I'll stick with the GPL or more specifically Sun's competition, Red Hat.
If a company can just take my code and throw it into their router, not submitting changes then that is also grounds for my rejection of its use.
Not saying this is the CDDL just that those two points are the main things I care about and any money or time I put in has to have those two things.
Blood-curdling reports on US and Israeli military actions don't get linked any more.
Sounds like you should be reading sites specifically geared towards dislike for the united states and israel. There are plenty hate sites out there, enjoy them.
I know you're joking but if you really care about education help us figure out a way that works. We've thrown heaps of money at education and nothing changes. When hillary took over Arkansas education reform they went from almost last to second to last. This problem doesn't get fixed by throwing millions at it. Big city's put an excessive amount of money into education, but have a much lower graduation rate than rural areas.
If you want a better education all you have to do is get involved with your child cause nobody else will.
No, actually I'll just stick with Mandrake, which is still Linux, and has still found a way to include MP3.
Yes, that is a great reason to choose a whole distro. You don't have to yum install xmms-mp3. You can't run a command so you will switch distro's.

This is just a veiled "which distro is best"
Agreed, plus RHEL 4 just dropped and not even a mention of it. Sounds a bit like a commercial.

If It's too expensive why is Red Hat doubling their sales every year/quarter, and alternitives like SuSE show little to flat growth?
Yes, It's expensive for me or a 5 worker business, but It is still selling. Isn't it up to Red Hat as to what consumer base they want to sell to?
