  1. Debian on Lightest of the Light Linux · · Score: 1

The only real poblems I had was when I was doing a portupgrade... I had to do a bit of manual stuff, and one package refused to compile ( And I had to replace it with a version below ).

And the cool thing about BSD is the licence :) I think im going to release any open source stuff I do under the BSD licence instead of the GNU one.

Its a tempoary replacement for my 386 ( Im making up a special case for my 386 ). Had a bunch of troubles with the serial stuff built in... setserial thinks its a 16450 UART, and the onboard serial controler thingys dont want to run my modem at 115200 baud. After much fruiting around, just 15 minutes ago I started rummaging thru my collection of spare parts, and tried some of the multi-IO cards... and just 5 mins ago I tried a baby serial IO one, it appears to be a 16550A UART, and handles 115200 baud no worries :) And thats what im posting this msg thru :) So there is some useless information for you :)

    Hello there...

A few years ago I was right into my quakeworld.. And I found that after a long winning streak against what were basicly newbies, I could not bare to loose . On many occasions I could loose the plot, and I have broken many mice and keyboards, and even ripped my top off ( it was a good top too ) in a fit of rage.

I have since given up quake world, To mee it is simply a game that is too fast and agressive without a way to vent such agresssion.

IMO, if there was a way to exerciece while playing such a game, eg, optionally, to move you have to run on a treadmill thing or such like, then it would be a very fun game, because my anger would be let out while I run :)

I think another thing that would be neat is a large keyboard designed to be on a wall. You punch and kick the keys while viewing a projection of a screen.. so you could code or irc and get fit at the same time :)

But yeah.. I recon lots of games are bad.. but I still play them.. my latest addiction is that of CS. I have bought three copies of CS Retail.. I have twice deleted CS and broken the CD's simply because I was too addicted to get any work done. /GNU throws a flashbang in front of uncle Bill... /GNU throws a SG in front of Bill's plan /GNU gains some market share while Bill cant see :)

If their spyware gets to the stage where the data being send back is hogging up bandwidth, then perhaps it will help push bandwidth standards upward.. sort of like how their bloated OS do for puter speed.

An example of spyware bloat is a MS Word document.. if it gets edited back and forth between people, it starts growing really fat because it contains where it has been and who has been viewing and editing it.

"So, if one has any faith in God or His omnipotence, he/she shouldn't be discouraged by new theories of science that seem to contradict His existence."

I think good science often goes a long way to prove Gods existence, or in the very least, the existence of design. It is laughable that there are theorys that people adhere to, where with a mix of immeasurable odds and huge lengths of time, the first form life was created. This concept alone is very unlikely, especially given that humans have still not created a simple life form from non biological materials, as must have been the materials before the first form of life. This alone should be clue enough to the fact that life simply did not happen by its self, by fluke, but that it was designed.

Out of interest, I wrote a simple program which creates a random file. Using a Samba, and windows, I ran the program on a linux box, and tried to run the program on windows.

I wanted to see if I could randomly make a .exe file that actually done something useful.. my thoughts being that a computer program is like an __extermely__ simple form of life.

It turns out on my systems, and with code ( please don't mock my newbie code :), improve it if you will ), never ever produced any file that could executed properly, let alone do something useful.

My code is prolly complete arse, but I just wanted to try and put it in perspective, how unlikely it is that life was created randomly. Because it is unlikely. People can write programs with effort and thought and work... they dont just happen by themselves. So it is STUPID to think that life, which is far more complex than a computer program, happened only by chance.

Off topic a fair amount.. whoops :)

According to the Bible, God created the earth and life on it in 6 days, not 7. God rested on the 7th day. There are also things written in the Bible about time in relation to God: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day" 2 John 3:8. This suggests that god is external to and not affected by the 'dimension' called time.
