gaim does what you want: - it's cross-plattform (Windows, OSX, Linux)
I would love to know where you got your OS X copy of gaim. I was under the impression that no one was going to port it as so many clients on OS X (Adium, Fire, and Proteus) already use libgaim.
I don't have a link, but I recall Ep. 2 drawing in far less money than Ep. 1 did, even though it cost at least as much to make. Its gross was quite disappointing compared to blockbusters like Spider-Man
You're right that it didn't make as much as Episode 1 (or nearly as much as A New Hope). But Episode 2 is the 17th highest grossing film of all time. Kind of hard to be disappointed by that. I'm sure DVD sells weren't too shabby either.
If Lucas were really smart, he'd admit to himself that he sucks at writing screenplays and dialog, and get an expert to do it like he did with Empire Strikes Back. But this seems very unlikely to happen.
Back when the fastest x86 chip was a Pentium 2, the G3 received this same classification. Apple even ran ads that proclaimed their "weapons grade" status. Looks like Intel is finally catching up with an Apple chip that's two revisions old.:o)
Actually, that merely forwards your calls to the POTS phones (you have to register the number) while the cell is in the device. So he'd have to keep his current POTS service which he's trying to get rid of.
Uh, wrong. You can video chat between AIM and iChat, it's just audio that doesn't work right now...
According to http://www.apple.com/ichat, iChat AV 2.1 supports videoconferencing with the new AOL Instant Messenger 5.5 for Windows, giving you immediate access to the millions of people in both the Mac and PC communities.
Second one does not execute, but does connect to the FTP (which I would expect it to do), again no dialog.
Third launches help viewer, but does nothing else, no dialog.
Fourth does not mount or execute the volume, but does launch the terminal, again non dialog.
It appears to be all fixed, as some of the methods to install the exploits still work, but the exploits themselves do not run. I wonder if anyone will find a way around the fixes.

I hate those "apple" style buttons
Everyone keeps saying this, but I don't get it. I run OS X, and nothing on my machine looks like those buttons. I'd say they were "apple style" if they were aqua, but those are an original style that just became the default on Firebird for Mac.
I wont dispute that a mix made for the specific purpose of later listening can be quite good. But I was referring to when someone goes to a taper-friendly band and asks for a board patch. What they get is the FOH mix.
And, from everything I've heard, so far all the "Instant Live" CDs have sounded like this.
I can't stand AUDs even if they are FOB with $4,000 Neumann mikes. Swishy highs, no stereo separation, flabby bass, people screaming etc... to me this detracts from the experience
Ok, well it's pretty apparent from this line that you're basing your opinion from large bands (Phish, Panic, etc) that have a taping section in a less than ideal environment and force the FOB tapers to run extremely low. Get some tapes from bands that don't have restrictive taping policies (ABB, DMB, and a TON of small bands that play the club scene), when tapers can set up in the "sweet spot" and get some great stereo imaging. Of course the crowd will be more present in the AUD recordings, but they don't have to overpower the tape.
And yes, I have heard matrix recordings. In fact, I've made a number of them. I've found the best mix to be 60 AUD 40 SBD, but it really all depends on the quality of both tapes you're using.
And no one makes a good tape with Neumann mics. Seriously, DPAs all the way.;o)
Except most soundboard recordings sound like crap. They are mixed for the room, not mixed for a CD. Hence many things will affect they way it sounds. Onstage amps may affect how much the guitars and bass are mixed into the signal; drums can be kept low in the mix as they tend to be quite loud on stage; vocals are usually turned way up in the mix to be heard over the instruments.
And yes, you can get a poor AUD recording. But a mediocre AUD recording will beat the best SBD in my opinion.
But giving up the internet for a week? That would be hard my friend...
I used to think so, too. But a few months ago I went without the internet for about 2 weeks. It was great. Sure I didn't have much contact with my friends at other schools, but I did a lot more reading and I was outside a lot more. Granted I was kinda behind on the news, and a few friends thought I had died, but in all it was a good two weeks.
Of course now I've gone back to being online quite a bit, but going without the Internet isn't as hard as some people might think. (geez, I sound like an addict)
Definitely one of the best purchases I have made. It lifts the laptop to a height that is better ergonomically and helps keep it cool (by allowing air to flow underneath). Here it is, and you can find it in most stores now...
Who said anything about serious gaming???? Is light, casual gaming too much to ask for out of a laptop?
The fact is, LCDs are just fine. A 64 meg video card is not "low memory" - in fact it's probably still more than most people have. And a 1 Ghz G4, despite being in a laptop, is still pretty damn powerful, and should definitely be powerful enough to run a game that was designed over 4 years ago (and was originally designed for a mac, no less).
Getting 30 ftps out of Halo should not be too much to expect from a PowerBook that's only one revision old...
I have not downloaded Halo (mostly because there's not a snowballs chance in hell it'll run on my iBook 700), but my friend did. He has a TiBook 1Ghz, and it runs EXTREMELY slow. He had to put it on the lowest resolution possible to even make it playable. But even then the game slows to a halt when there's any kind of action going on... Needless to say he quickly deleted it.
Now come on, this computer is less than a year old and yet it wont play a game that was made a few years ago. I wonder if it'll even run on the latest G4 desktops (I'm sure it flies on the G5). This is pretty unacceptable in my opinion.
I'm willing to bet that a lot of people were in the same boat as my friend: pirated it to try it and found out it ran as slow as molasses - then quickly deleted it.
Exactly. There is no OS X build but you can install a whole bunch of stuff and run it under X11. To me that is not sufficient.
Luckily Adium kicks enough ass that I don't have to worry about it.

If adjusted for inflation, Gone with the Wind would be the highest grossing movie of all time, with A New Hope being second.

TOTAL agreement there.
4G iPod == 4th Generation iPod, released today.
But there is a 4Gb iPod, known as the iPod Mini.
Ah you're right. I dunno why I though it was the G3. In any case, you can watch the ad here, labeled "Supercomputer.mov."

It launches the terminal and tries to fire up ssh. Here's the terminal contents:
/Volumes/ssh/config: No address associated with nodename
ssh: a -F
[Process exited - exit code 255]
I did, it didn't. All it did was try to connect to the ftp again.

Us tapers have been doing this for years. It's nothing new, someone just needs to invalidate CC's patent.

Yeah, but the two DDS tapes don't allow the laptop to swivel...which is something I don't think I could live without anymore.

Good idea. That way the consumers that were "had" could get a $5 coupon and the lawyers could get millions!
