I would imagine most of the comments I just read were by those who have never even seen or listened to Beck's show. Why? Because I have. Beck BACKS UP claims and does more research than most main stream media, who generally worship at the feet of the democrat party. The quotes he provides are on video and can be looked up on You-Tube. Often they are taken from the person's own speeches (and no, not out of context). It's simply rather difficult, for example, for White House officials to deny their admiration for communist dictator Mao Tse Tung, although I imagine that frosts their gonads that Beck keeps exposing their beliefs.

Calling the accusation of fictional rape of a young girl parody is ridiculous. Stooping to that level means you are simply trying to assassinate a person's character. But when it's done against a conservative, it's called parody. If it was done to a liberal, it would be defamation and slander.

And we know the left (with an agreeable media) NEVER tries to take down someone they don't like. Just like the claims of Rush Limbaugh and racism...oh wait!

It's like they're equivocating a low percentage of women in FOSS = sexism vs. just a general lack of interest. It may be that women programmers would rather get paid or can't afford...or have the time to make ongoing contributions to open source. Correlation is not causation.

Or, if you prefer, listen to the horror stories female developers tell about sexist remarks or being asked out for dates. Look at the constant trolls on the mailing lists for female developers.

Okay, yes there are always trolls anywhere...but is being asked on a date that bad? I mean at least you have something in common. And if the lead developer is smart he'll smack down the trolls or stalkers because it's stupid to lose a programmer who's willing to work for free and contribute.

They don't CARE about the company. They only care about their stock options and stay 5 years at most before moving on to gut their next conquest.

Yes you CAN start your own business--that's about the only way to become a CEO without being a golden boy (mostly) and come from an ivy-leagued school. Because if any company released a truly desirable product people would be willing to pay a premium to own that product. Yet Microsoft & Amazon are trying to claim success by reducing its price... (talk about lies, damned lies and PR)).

First off, EVERYONE was running a sale on the upgrade. That was a Microsoft offer, not Amazon's. Just like getting a laptop with Vista now, will earn you a free upgrade.

Business drop the price all the time to see if they can sell more items. They make less of a profit per item, but make up for that in quanity. Very useful in the software business where the materials involved (disc and packaging) in the product cost pennies.

NO ONE is willing to pay a premium for something in this economy that's not a NEED. Sure, I would LOVE to upgrade (well more like retire) my 2.1 GHz PC and build a Quad-Core with a nice 1GB video card (and of course I have to upgrade my HD because that format has changed to SATA.) But I can't afford it and my current PC running XP is doing just fine.

But it's like you're saying, "Oh that dirty, rotten microsoft. They're having a SALE--how dare they!" Damn I'm GLAD they're having a sale, because I sure can't afford the retail and neither can a lot of other people.

I have a laptop that came with Vista. Personally, I've never had any problems with it. (Of course, it was built to work with Vista, so YMMV.) I even run really old, classic games with DOSBox on it! My only quibble (after turning off the truly dumb, UAC feature) is that you have to have a better system to run something (like a game) with Vista than you do to run the same thing on XP. However, since I don't normally play commerical games on this, that hasn't been much of a problem. And I found the voice recognition program included to be superior to even Draggon Naturally Speaking and you didn't need as long to train it.

I've got some problems with Microsoft, but this isn't one of them.

It's NOT just billing...many medical places are getting rid of their hard copy paper records and relying on electronic ones. My allergist did this (staff was not real happy about having to rely on laptops.) So that puppy holds all your medical records and a hospital doing same would not be able to transfer over any records such as what drugs you're allergic to or what the previous attanding physician prescribed.

I think it really shows just how much MORE paperwork they have to deal with. As the computers have decreased in size and cost and increased in capability, the paperwork involved has increased. No one would have be able to handle this much paperwork having to rely on handwritten or even typed records. (In theory we should be decreasing workload, but instead they think of more things they can do or require and so the workload increases.)

Secretaries are either evolving or dying off because once future managers began learning computer skills, they no longer needed to have someone else type up their dictation or letters. And of course it saved company $$. Only the most senior staff get a personal secretary because they have the status and I suspect most are the leftover codgers who never learned to type.

The last movie I saw him in that not only I liked, but was a standout role was "What about Bob." One could argue Groundhog Day (I never saw that one.) He's been busy, but hasn't had a real hit since the 90's. For Sigourney Weaver (who's not yet listed as a returning cast member in IMDB) it was The Village, which wasn't a great role, but she did a nice job. Props also for remaining a working actress when most actresses over 40 are cast aside for the young and perky.

But don't get me wrong. I would LOVE to see a really fun movie, even a remake, especially with this very talented group. My point simply was that while the first was original and funny the second one fell flat which more often than not happens with a sequel. If you liked it, good for you, but I think the reviews and the box office would disagree. It just didn't seem to have the chemistry any more. Not just Murray and Weaver, but the whole crew didn't seem to click like they did in the first one. Also, I would argue that the insufferable city asshole, Walter Peck, was a better foil than the snooty cello player with a god complex. But mostly I think in the first movie let Bill Murray be Bill Murray. Most of it seemed ad-libbed by him (in a good way.) I don't know if they ran out of good lines for GBII or if it was attempted to even out the humor, but Murray needs to be the crazy one. (Notable exception to Rick Moranis' supporting role.) Nothing wrong with others playing the straight man (or woman).
