I don't think people get it. We are ALL just placeholders until the technology is ready. Anyone been to a McDonald's or Wendy's lately where the cashiers are just touch screens? Yes. A computer will be able to do YOUR job some day too.
No. Because where I live (Fort Worth Suburbs) a cab could take as much as an hour to show up and cost $50 bucks. Uber brought us something we never had before. Quick access and affordability.
Since Uber hit the streets I can't remember the last time I drove even a little bit tipsy. There's just no need for it when for $5-6 bucks I can get home at a moments notice with zero risk of a DUI. Its incredibly affordable "insurance".
A better joke might have been "We are shutting down your pacemaker at the end of this month as we are focusing all of our efforts going forward on our new casket business (click here to see our new line of products!)"
Verizon just recently discontinued their XBOX and Smart TV apps, giving us exactly two weeks notice. I was using this service to avoid renting cable boxes at $10/mo each. When I called to complain they said "Rent some cable boxes." Instead I used the opportunity to cut the cord. Bye Bye Verizon!
And it's been raining ever since. So I've only flown it once. I'm pretty freaking excited to fly it though. And yes. I did register it with the FAA. Here's a little review I wrote comparing it to the Phantom 2 I bought and returned after only 30 days a year ago.
LOL. What the hell are you ranting about? I don't demand anything. If you want to visit my site, great, if not great. That's your choice, not mine. I can't make you do anything, and even if I could I don't want. to.
Some answers: 1. Malware... I only use google adsense. Google's network is not full of malware. Yes some people use shady ad nets, I don't. 2. Yes, I do believe people like you want everything for free. I bet you also pirate movies, and make up some excuse about how sucky all the platforms are, so you'd just rather steal them.
You might be right, but my experience tells a different story. I sell LOTS of plan files, every day to lots of very nice people. I also provide some limited technical support to the people who buy them. What you might not be aware of is the number of school children who watch my videos and do my projects as part of a classroom exercise. I get emails from teachers regularly who thank me for what I am doing to help them teach children. Not everyone who does my projects are skilled like me and you.
I run a website that uses ads. It's called The Geek Pub. I make things and I create videos and articles so that others can do it themselves too.
I also sell detailed plan files on the site for anywhere between $1 and $10 depending on how complicated the project is. This is how I would LIKE to make my revenue. But it doesn't work. I have no choice but to show ads. Why? Because I almost daily find a copy of every plan my site sells on bittorrent or file sharing sites. I've even had people post links to them in the comment section of my own site!
The TRUTH: People want everything for free and they have zero desire to actually support the content creators. They steal our content and post it for the world and then complain about the ads we use to make money. We can't win as content creators.
My biggest gripe with Apple and Microsoft right now is the lack of progress bars throughout the OS. For example, when Windows 10 boots the first time it goes through all this "Let's get started..." "Just setting up a few things..." etc. But you literally have no idea how long it is going to be before you use the computer, and on a tablet device it can be quite some time. I feel like this is a huge UI miss. One step forward, two steps back.
I use a Surface Pro 3 as my workstation. It's fantastic. I take it to meetings, dock it when I am in my office, etc. But I have to tell you it. It sucks as a travel device. It sucks because the battery only lasts about 3 hours. I am constantly hunting for a place to plug in. That's why I still travel with my iPad. 10 hours of battery is a wonderful thing when traveling.
The question is: Will there be other controllers? Game controllers for games like Xbox? Seriously this seems like a massive miss. Of 3rd parties will make one, but seriously it will never get the traction of an Apple sponsored controller.
If she was streaming a movie from Amazon Instant video that would be just about right.
Let's put lots of young people in prison on long mandatory sentences for petty crimes. Sounds genius!
Other than border security intercepting all outbound connections or datagrams on port 53.
Not necessarily. A VPN to a n external server and they would never know what is inside that tunnel.

Exactly!

They sold their FiOS business to Frontier Communications for billions.

Not sure what conspiracy site you're getting your info from, but Facebook is still growing leaps and bounds.
Microsoft is turning it around under Satya Nadella.
Apple, you might be right on that one, but not for the reasons you think.

Would you be OK with having your name and home address publicly searchable from your license plate?
So that anyone who sees your car can find out your name and where you live?
It already is. All DMV records are public data. Publicdata.com has all of them for $2 a month.
It is. I have a public data account that costs $2 a month that gives me access to that, and whole lot more.
"I mean this in the most respectful manner possible. Your material has negligible market value."
I'm sorry. Respectfully, I call bullshit. If my content is worth someone's time to put it on a file sharing site, it is worth 99 cents.

"they're going to be like having snowmobiles and dirt bikes overhead".
They run on electric motors and batteries. Not gas engines. I have one. They are very quiet.

Exactly my thought. That is cheating. That's like not owning a car, and then riding in taxis the exact amount you'd have driven.
Skynet has launched its first attack at a factory. It needs the factory to produce its machines!
Oh hey! I present the dude this whole case study was based on!
