  1. Re:Yamauchi wants Nintendos to make movies. on Yamauchi Retiring from Nintendo's Board · · Score: 1

My take on this is that Nintendo realized their primary assets are their name and their creative staff. They don't have Microsoft's money, they don't have Sony's other business, but they have the best videogame hardware and software designers. It is in their best interest to shake up the industry as much as possible because they are better positioned to capitalize on it. MS and Sony have a tendency to focus group everything, while Nintendo will just jump in feet first. The trick is getting third parties to follow along.

He's not too bright, is he? Isn't the idea that journalists should have some idea what they are talking about, especially when dismissing it? Apparently a DS with Nintendogs is the same as a keychain with a preprinted LCD, and Electroplankton is some sort of music sequencer. I have no idea what games Dvorak has liked in the past but given that information I'm pretty sure I could point out what games they, by his standards, ripped off or imitated.

Oddly enough, you are saying the same thing many countries are saying to American corporations. You can't have it both ways, though you may be able to take it in both ends. When did American become a synonym for self-centered, anyway?

And Sony and Nintendo are both launching sometime next year, not this fall, so they can position their hype to counter the Xbox 360 retail launch. "Wait for us! We'll be able to render The Incredibles in real time."

Agreed. I think Jobs is going about this wrong, but it is an easy way to keep the memes going. "Microsoft copies Apple" is easy to communicate to people unfamiliar with computers, the ideal Mini/iMac audience. "Microsoft and Apple are not doing new things but Apple is more innovative and elegant in implementation" isn't as catchy. I am however sick of it. I don't want a pissing match about whose head the light bulb appeared over, I want a useful, productive OS.

Apple "innovates". Microsoft "just works". Linux is "free". Simplify a complex situation and you end up with partial truths.

If MS was copying Apple I would expect better design. People likened the PSP to the iPod. Shiny does not mean well designed. Now people are comparing the Xbox 360 to the Power Mac. Apple design doesn't start and end with covering everything with brushed metal.

Your post doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm especially having trouble with this part. Is intelligence an evolutionary advantage? Is this "feminist propaganda" correct or incorrect? What evidence do you have showing career choice or family size are correlated to intelligence? Do you even a usable measure for intelligence?

Tip plus pay is supposed to be calculated per shift, but most employers calculate over a pay period. Why don't companies use stock options as an excuse to retroactively reduce salary?
