how the heck would I ever get anyone to use it? Most are set by DHCP from your ISP, and they usually run their own DNS.... and I certainly wouldn't use one randomly....
When you give me a hard stare and (inaudible) that you are very good at combat, your request that I drop domestic-violence charges against you, it very much sounds like another threat snip You don't need to prove to me that you are a strong man. I never questioned that.
telling your wife you're good at combat? lol. I can almost imagine this as the comic book guy saying it.... and the marines are good at combat, hans reiser probably not so much.
on my slashdot? it may be more likely than i think. seriously though, here's a story about 2 very non-geek things apparently in conflict with each other. weird.
I was an over-priced consultant in the Y2K bug era and it was definitely a resounding success because nothing happened, due to the hard work of an assload of people.
A number which is 10 followed by 100 zeros in a cage match against a hydrogen fusion reactor which accounts for 99.8% of the mass of our solar system. The whole thing happened over a misunderstanding regarding a robot designed to have human features.
Why would the Chinese government do something so obvious? And the drives were sold in Taiwan? Given the relationship between the Chinese and the Taiwanese... it seems more like this was _meant_ to be found in order to destabilize the Taiwan economy more than to do any sort of real information gathering... if the Chinese government wanted to gather information I'm sure they could and would be far more covert than this... and compared to the other systems they surely have in place this is nothing.....
This is not as simple as it seems I think but instead is meant to be discovered in order to produce reactions similar to many of the posts I have read so far
Just a guess tho, but there's more going on here than is in this story
haven't heard a thing about it in the news anywhere, but all these access points are coming up 'city of minneapolis' and 'minneapolis wifi' and such, they have great signal strength but are flaky as hell (network/router errors and such, not wifi connection problems) - my guess is they're testing....every few blocks or so, on a telephone pole there's these coffee can looking things that have 2 antennas, they've been putting them up over the last few months... I figured they were shot spotters but now with the APs on I'm guessing thats the wifi. haven't heard it on the evening news or in the strib.
its way faster than the neighbor's connections i've been using

At my job I quit checking voice mail and only read emails once or twice a day. Sure does piss off management but it makes my life easier.

I don't know of any government that has successfully imposed democracy on another country.
Really? America imposed democracy onto Germany and Japan following WW2 and it worked quite well.
