Well if it existed in an OSS app it could be easily implented into any software that wanted to use this form of communcation so long as they abided by the lincensing terms. This is contrary to microsoft which has everything closed and propreitary, and pureposefully made to give people not using microsoft a harder time.
Japanese is different. In a purely syllabic system, there is a key combo to switch keyboards for both hiragana and katakana and each key is mapped to a syllable. I just wonder where the numbers go, since both keyboards use all keys (except keypad) for characters, plus some combinations with ctrl and shift.
Most people who type in Japanese presently use the standard qwerty layout and just type in romanized Japanese(myself included).
As for Chinese, there are many different input methods but the most common is most likely mandarin pin yin input, which would just be the romanization system for mandarin.
Actually, they only blocked port 80 after code red started to propogate across the network...and have left it blocked ever since. Although optimum online definately doesn't want you running servers anyway, just call up tech support and mention the word "server" in any context and they will flip out.
Unless microsoft plans on releasing the source code for every windows update patch as well, they will still be able to maintain as much control as they have always had (re: too much)
I could just see this technology being used to ferret out "terrorists". Imagine, you are listening to 2600's radio show and suddenly you are mysteriously pulled over...scary stuff
DOS wasn't that bad of an OS. That's no bullshit. It has its high points, and has been around *much* longer, and been magnitudes more popular than nearly everything else that rose to compete with it.
Indeed. I have always wondered what would have happened if DR DOS wasn't eradicated by microsoft.
I honestly agree with the points you make. However, I am assuming the xbox is much quieter then an average PC, thus making it much better for playing back divx movies. I know I can't stand divx because my pc is so damn loud...and making a quiet pc or using a laptop is very costly. Now I just need to see for myself how loud the xbox is to make a judgement...not that I would ever buy one anyway.
We will have such chips implanted into our brains in order to reason even quicker, then we will develop newer chip that will help design newer computers that will miniaturize themselves as new implants that will help us...
If you have a modchip you are banned permanently and it seems so called "legitimate" users are being banned as well in the midst of microsoft's "anti-cheating" efforts.
Also with KDE/Gnome the language keyboard support doesn't require rebooting at all.
Now that sounds really great actually! Your advice is very welcome, which is why comments like "Maybe next time you should actually try a distro out before complaining it doesn't work." are really not neccessary. I have indeed tried several distros and have gotten input working with just Japanese, or just Chinese and I never knew there was a utility like this. I'll have to look into it now
First, I would like to say that I do not like Macs much to begin with, although the OS is fine in its own right it is not really an option I want to look into. Second, the main programs I was referring to as "file sharing" are "WinMX" and "Winny" which I use because of the Japanese user base. Both are only for Windows (As the names suggest). And Third, directed at idou more specifically, is that with Win2k and Windows XP you can switch the language with a simple reboot so you do not need multiple OS's anymore.
The Asian Language Support. I can seamlessly switch between Japanese and Chinese input with windows. It is a lot more cumbersome in linux. Aside from that...there are certain programs that are just not available for linux systems and won't function under a windows emulator (or WINE for that matter) which are a neccesity(namely certain CD-R software, and file-sharing software).
It sounds kind of funny but when a child sees some dirty picture, they are learning that such material exists. Filters or no filters, they will continue to learn at the library.
I can just picture it now...kids surf to goatse.cx..."Mommy, what is this guy doing with his butt?"..."Well son..."
wireless networks are inherently insecure, so are cellphones though. Does anyone complain? If anyone has anything important to send they encrypt it anyway.

This makes me curious, what would the standard Korean layout be?

My guess is he was referring specifically to being comftorable with programming languages...

Well at least we can maybe agree on calling Miyamoto the god of console games then?
everyone's hygiene will no longer be kept a secret and all those hackers who never bathe will have to "come clean"!

this is something that people _joke_ about please tell me this isn't for real?

If this doesn't play in Sony's own Playstation and/or Playstation 2
Nah it will more likely be someone from apple's Japanese switch campaign
Hopefully it won't be running microsoft software

I hope that yahoo! does not have the same lax privacy policy for paying customers as for non-paying customers

You should have seen what happened when I put a throw-away email address in my away message on irc. Suddenly I was getting 1000 messages a day...scary

The truth is that little my computer icon on your desktop is only on windows for a reason...
