Agreed, but one must take into consideration that NYC, and I'm sure to a lesser degree, SF, are pretty much Marketing / Advertising meccas. NYC is perhaps even the marketing / advertising capital of the world. How often were these employees flying back and forth from Redmond to SF and NY for meetings with agencies / executives of other companies I wonder? It won't be good for them to loose the experienced employees who have been with them long enough to become vested and comfortable enough to decline the chance to move in favor of a severence package, but there will be no shortage of highly qualified employees in either city...

ummm...I did read, and I replied. If there is writing between the lines, then write it. You are equating hiring a hitman to speech. I am pointing out that you can talk all you want about hiring a hit man but if you "hire" a hitman, as they do not work for free, that is not talking but acting and paying them. By your logic, would the bumper stickers that say "Shoot them all and let God figure it out," be harmful by the implied act of someone carrying that statement out?

When you are "hiring a hitman" you might "speak" to them to do it, but you are paying them to do it, that's where the crime comes into it. If you just mention to some random stranger, "hey I think it would be a good idea if you killed that guy" and they did it...there is no crime in that.

  8. Absolutely Rediculous on Student Arrested for Writing Essay · · Score: 1

At no point should an arrest have been made whatsoever and the student "made to attend classes elsewhere." Lee should sue the school, the teacher and the arresting officers. What if the essay by chance was a cry for help? Do they think arresting him and kicking him out of the school was going to be the solution? Hell, that would just piss me off more and reaffirm my loss of faith in society. Perhaps, and I'm going out on a limb here without access to the essay, in the off chance that this was the darkest, most morbid, profane, violent thing that the teacher had ever encountered, then a professional therapist should have been consulted and made available. Perhaps. But moving directly to an arrest is a constitutional violation of his rights. At most, his parents should have been made aware of the situation, the teachers concern for the student, and everyone envolved should have had a nice sit down.

As far as a dual boot with multiple hard drives, I've found it easier when dealing with 3+ installs (or even 2 if one is windows)to setup grub on the 2nd harddrive which will allow for kernel selections, but not mess with the 1st harddrives MBR. Just use something like an ultimate boot cd when you want to boot the 2nd hd. This will allow some lea way with flashing the MBR if something terrible should occur, as well as, allowing your pre-installed OEM to play nice as a fail-safe.

Also, this can add an element of security or for those paranoid downloaders out there a "Hey here's my harddrive, enjoy!" alternative with the privacy of a 2nd, or 3rd OS.
