OK, so now what's going to stop police from hiding GPS units on many cars parked on the street in high crime neighborhoods and tracking thousands of potential suspects?
So, I guess it would be ok for anyone to GPS the judge's car and post the data on a public web site.
Man, I'm getting tired of this freedom shaving crap!

I don't want unix to be Windows, but why make it difficult when it doesn't need to be. An OS should get out of your way, but still get everything done.
Oh who cares, when was the last time you played a truly innovative sports game? By their very nature they can't go beyond the rules of the game they're based on.
Oh, and I suppose you like the idea of a zero gravity version of flight simulator then?
using flash drives....whats the lifespan on these given ther write limits on the drives...
The press release states that it uses a compact flash drive. I'd assume it is a micro drive and not solid state, so the number of writes are the same as your desktop PC.
Richard never mentions MMOG once. I was excited to see what he had to say about it, and... nothing.
This is one of those "thanks, but no thanks" interviews.

In these days you just have to hope that your product is successful, but not so successful that some big business entity decides to shut you down based on some bogus patent.
I used to work for a company that has a patent on the visual representation of latency between to remote connections. Just think of all of the software that is out there that are "violating" these one patent.
Ugg. Just gets me boiling thinking about it. Most great software started out from small unknown groups or even individuals. 1-2-3 spreadsheat, Mosaic web browser, etc. All big companies have to do today is sit back and wait for someone to create something novel and pounce on them once their idea is proven successful.
I haven't found one quote that says Bush supports civil unions between gay couples. He simply states that it should be up to the states to decide. Talk about spinning... sheesh
Well you can only improve so much with these games. But with poker, you can increase your skill and as long as your skill is higher than those you play against you will always make money in the long run.
Personally, I prefer a game that I can win at, so, I play poker or see a show while in Vega$
Well, that is personal prefernece. I'll take a keyboard and mouse over a console controller any day for the types of games I play. Namely, first person shooters.
Also, most games look better on the PC.
Well they are universal. Besides endian issues the only reason for not making the Mac version compatible with the PC is they likely didn't want to update the Mac client software as often as the windows software. My best guess is they wanted a mac version but with the intention of not keeping it as up-to-date as the pc version all along, thereby cutting the costs for the Mac side of things.
Bad decision as far as I'm concerned. Having multiple platforms of the same software has always kept my code a bit cleaner and more modular.
I've never noticed the bias towards Intel from THG until your post. I went through all of the processor summaries from the past 2 years and your right! They constantly praise Intel and never pass up the oportunity to take stabs at AMD.
Also, notice that Intel chips get plenty of there own articles while AMD is always placed in a comparison article that is bent toward Intel everytime.
We've been holding donations for yet-to-be completed software at SourceSupport for some time now.
Despite a few submissions to slashdot we have yet to get posted. Every other day I get an email wondering why we don't let the slashdot crowd in on it. o-well.
Must people, like me, who were big buyers of retail(brick and mortar) music went to downloading music online for free because it was easier than heading down to the local music store.
It wasn't that I wouldn't pay for the music, it was just that it was easier to download it with a better selection of music. Now there are even easier ways to download music such as iTunes and other related services. I prefer to use them now than battling with file sharing systems. So now that it is the easiest meathod for me, that is what I use.
"Light-speed gravity means that if the Sun suddenly disappeared from the centre of the Solar System, the Earth would remain in orbit for about 8.3 minutes"
Since gravity travels, dosn't that mean there is a possiblity that one can block gravity?
Eventually people will want high-speed access no matter where they are, but it won't be from a niche provider. It will come from the big guys like Sprint and AT&T.
Aerie can't make inroads in the modem market, because it costs too much for what you get. They can't compete in the DSL/cable market, because their service is way slower and costs the same. The only compelling reason to be on this service is if you are highly mobile, need a good connection to the Net, and never leave the city you live in or only go to the few cities that support the Ricochet service.
I had this service when it was running under Metricom. I found that it was good as a novelty, but never proved itself to be very practical. There was the occasional time that I was stuck in the airport or needed directions while in the car, but nothing that even came close to justifying the $75 I was paying a month.

What a bad place for this notice on this website. I know where to go if I want a server that can't stand the heat.

Lucky for you that Windows(and Linux) can already take advantage of SMP.
This is the old chicken and egg delima. Get one and wait for the software to start rolling in.
And stop being so damn negative whouldya?

Doh... Missed the part about "no moving parts" perhaps it is a flash chip on board after all.

I always thought that launched meant that the site was up and running? All I see is a FAQ page.

It will be interesting to see if Apple bows to any pressure to support devices other than iPod as the competition heats up.
SourceSupport.org has been doing something like this for a while now.
Perhaps a donation system such as the one found at SourceSupport could help spur on open source development.
Perhaps from the perspective of a "deep space" Cardasian outpost that has been taken over by the Federation. Yeah, that would work.

Check out the Casio BE-300 which you can get for less than $200. Pop in a 128MB flash card or 1GB IBM microdrive and you've got a great mp3 player.
:)
And soon it will play my PocketNES Nintendo emulator
