You are pretty much the master of interesting yet perilously-close-to-offtopic comments about circumstances that seem to have a sample size of one, that sample being you.
Too bad this was downmodded. The parent isn't making an anti-semitic comment - he's saying that the "new left" or whatever has a deep vein of anti-semitism running through it, though they attempt to misdirect with clever language. To many on the loony left (and I have first-hand knowledge of this - if you want to experience this for yourself, go to an Occupy camp somewhere and hang out for a while), the "one percent" == "the Jews".
The 50-Cent Army doesn't actually post ads so much as disinformation. If a news site publishes a story that is somehow critical of China, the comments section will be filled with "50-centers" defending China mostly by way of deflecting criticism back onto the west somehow. It's quite common on Canadian news sites such as the Globe and Mail, to the point where the editors starting mass-banning obvious 50-center accounts. It's widely accepted that the 50-cent army is paid by the Chinese government.
Slashdot's resident pundits are pretty much wrong about everything technology-related. It's pretty hilarious to compare this place to something like Hacker News.
Today's global situation is nothing compared to, say, the Second World War. In fact, we are in a period of relative peace, and the world is safer than ever.
Question: what's the largest conflict since WW2? Hint: it ended several years ago. War-wise, there's practically nothing going on in the world today.
Everything from GNU and Symbolics to (as others have noted) PostgreSQL, Google and beyond.
Let's not forget programming languages like Python and Haskell. Even Facebook was conceived in a university environment, if not as a part of any specific research.
Nah, they should switch to Macs. There's nothing like running a TCP/IP stack that reuses a modified copy of old FreeBSD code without changing the comments. =)
Why would they change the comments if they are reusing code that works? Just for the heck of it?
You misread his comment. He said he normally works twelve hour days (presumably five days a week, so 60 hours a week), but sometimes works up to 100 hours a week.
Is that the best you can do? Making lame assumptions about Steve Jobs and getting mad because he parks where he feels like it? Why the hatred, anyway? It's just a technology company that sells its products to people who want them. Why not reserve your bile and revulsion for things that deserve it - dictators, mass murderers and desktop Linux?
Surely you are trolling: http://www.google.org/
We are talking about phones here. Relax, kid.

The good old ad hominem attack. I guess the truth hurts.
It qualifies as "news for nerds" in a big way. I think you're in the wrong place, sunshine.

Except for all those MB Airs I saw up at Google the other day. Yep, those Google programmers sure don't like numbers. Right?
No, just a rational person mocking stupidity such as yours.
Slashdot is the 4chan of tech sites. Don't let it get to you.

Damn, I miss that guy. Why doesn't he post here anymore?
Just joining the chorus of "boos" here. You seem like a deeply unhappy person.
Obvious MS troll is obvious.
Final Fantasy II came out in the '80s. That's one dedicated woman.
He never said anything about technology, you asshole.

What? Putting executables in /etc makes perfect sense.

What's stopping you from maintaining X once "everyone of value" leaves?

I don't know why I still consider this a technical forum.
Aha, I think you see the problem here. Slashdot is a comedy forum now. Any genuinely technical talk is purely accidental and swiftly dealt with.
You have awesome hair.
