Yes why should we ensure teachers, police, members of the military, etc. do not have criminal records?

  2. As Uber is screwing people I see nothing wrong with them banding together to fight back.

  3. Can they set their own rates? Negotiate the terms of the contract? Negotiate fares? Can the driver define how th work will be done? Etc. There are a number of areas where it is more of an employee/employer relationship.

But anyway as a aside, you have touched upon the two categories of software I have; software as a product vs. software as an enablement. Uber produces software but only to enable their business model, they are a taxi service not a software company.

Possibly due to perspective. If a solar system is far away, you can observe all of it. If an object is in the solar system *and* out of the elliptic it may well be hidden. The location of the other planet, which may have an orbital period of centuries, has to be in the correct place to be seen and you need to be looking for it. Just guessing.

Now that there is evidence of a large object outside the elliptic I'm sure someone will try to calculate the period and approximate location of it. The fact it is out of the elliptic may explain why some comets are out of the elliptic.

    By the way, nice sig.

The same is true of Brexit. But overall it makes Britain a more affordable destination for labor an manufacturing. Just wait, the leisure industry will also boom.

  19. Why write software? on Seth's Blog: Hardware is Sexy, But It's Software that Matters (typepad.com) · · Score: 1

When you don't have to. Stick to your core competency. Software is notoriously hard to manage precisely because it is nebulous. You cannot see it, touch it, feel it, smell it, or taste it. A strictly intellectual construct. Hardware is easier to conceptualize as it is tangible. Does apple really need to redo MS Word? Or Docker? Or a host of others.

Sure software can change faster, but all that does is create crappy software. Who hasn't experienced sales screaming "We have to ship feature X before our competitors!!!!!!!! "

My advice to Apple is stick to your knitting. You don't want to have to spin off some useless software applications that you over spent on in a few years.
