Even if we could go a thousands times faster than Voyagers, this won't be enough. Also, a long trip in the interstellar space imply no solar energy and nuclear energy sources are limited to about 40 years. Just think about are current nuclear reactors which need major upgrade after 25-30 years of operation. And massive shielding against cosmic rays will be needed since life in such a vessel will be constantly bombarded by cosmic rays at high energy for decades if not centuries. A single round-trip of less than two years to Mars may already be a problem for humans. Sorry, but Hollywood isn't the best place to seek for advice on deep space exploration.

Don't even think about moving this stuff around, this would be the most dangerous move ever made in the entire humanity's life. It would even become a target for terrorist minds to provoke such an accident.

Not true, I want a cheap piece of plastic that computes fast. Provided a reasonable keyboard and display. These pieces of plastic are used to be changed every 24 months anyway. I was a Thinkpad customer for a long time, it ended up abruptly two years ago when Lenovo managed very bad an important problem with the nVidia chip on its T61p line of products. I did buy these because they were the top end product at that time. I did buy Thinkpad instead of another brand because of the high quality I got in the past and the service. Lenovo just managed to replace the laptops likely to fail before the end of the warranty and made a recall for these serial numbers only. Many of us did have our lovely T61p just die not long after our warranty expired and we were told by Lenovo to go to hell (not in these terms of course) our warranty is expired and they won't do anything for us. Then I started to see if I could buy a replacement board and in Canada they charged over 1500$ for a replacement board while you can buy yourself a new machine for that price. I then decided to drop Lenovo once and forever. Since that time, I am committed to buy cheap pieces of plastic that computes fast instead.

Well, the example you provided about the plants producing their own insecticide and we are supposed to eat may be questionable. However, while doing so you should ask also the good questions. I do not pretend I have any answers here and neither I am pro or con these plants. The real question being: Will you absorbe more insecticide from a plant producing its own compare to a plant which doesn't and need to be sprayed with insecticide? And is the insecticide produced by the plant the same as the sprayed one? One can be toxic and the other may be not. The issue is always much complicated than it appears at first glance.

And in first place, would an engine with any mechanical part will endure such a long journey? What about cosmic radiations? Hibernation couldn't be tested on a such long term period. Same reasonning could be applied to schools. Let's look at the stats. Most massive killings happened in schools. Forbide schools and the mass killings will vanish.

I believe you haven't really catch the point about the Holocaust. Even if the British killed millions of Indians, their intent wasn't to kill all the Indians because they believed they were evil. That's not something you just compare by body count. That's the difference between a genocide and a war, civil war, revolt, riot or whatever. The plan behind the Holocaust was to withdraw completely the Jews from the Earth. That's why some caution should be taken when doing some comparisons.

The Nazis weren't killing Jews in direct reprisals of something. They were killing them because they believe they have no right to live.
