I saw this tidbit this morning, and was also greatly amused. It is of good quality, and a few minutes long, seemingly showing the entire segment in question...

This extension, tab mix plus, has that functionality and a lot more built in (Duplicate Tab). Not sure if you can make it a keyboard shortcut though. Very handy tool for me.

And even 1 more, Microsoft's Outlook Web Access makes use of XMLHttpRequest calls, and has for a while. Granted the 'best' features are IE specific, but it does the job...

The current edition of PLAY magazine has a pretty in depth article on the game, and the GITS movie. Pretty good read actually...

'Normal Gamers' don't go to Lan parties. I know plenty of 'normal' gamers, well adjusted, fairly into the hobby, and pretty knowledgable and up on the latest stuff, and not one of them would be hard-core enough to go to a LAN party...

  8. Re:That's a reach on Games Tax To Fund Obesity Prevention? · · Score: 1

I think it would. Personally, I eat healthy, a lot, but it drives me crazy that I could just grab a Quarter Pounder combo at McD's for 3.99 (CDN), when my salad/sub/diet coke, costs 7 bucks all together. I think that the price of food really would change eating patterns. When it comes to cmoking, those people are addicts, plus the cost is drawn out over a longer period : a pack of smokes lasts what, maybe couple days or something, so they forget how much they paid, and just get irritated at the next time. meanwhile food is very immediate, you're done in about 10 minutes, and you realize you just spent X + tax on junk food, maybe it'll discourage people. Something has to be done, this doesn't seem too bad an idea.

  9. Re:Games keep people on windows on UT2003 LiveCD · · Score: 1

Games don't keep regular people on Windows. Games keep medium-hard core computer people on Windows. I'm a developer, installed Linux at home, got it running and was like this is great, but no good games, so off you go Linux, back to Windows.

Day to day computer users, my dad, mom, brother, cousin etc. however stay on Windows because of it's EASE OF USE. Like many posts here have alluded to, LINUX is not simple to install, configure and whatnot. My dad wants to buy a digital camera that he can plug in and email pictures to his friends. Takes 5 minutes on Windows, takes how long (can it even be done with included software?) on Linux?

THAT's why people stay away. Make it easier or no significant number of people will switch.

  10. Re:Richmond and Spadina? on Toronto, The Naked City · · Score: 1

Actually, there are some pretty chic office spaces down there that are used by IT consulting firms. Offhand I can think of Cyberplex (may no longer be there) which is in the Paramount movie theatre building, and Toronto.com's offices. Chapters.ca as well...
