  1. Note on rubber bullets on Anti-WTO Riot, State of Emergency in Seattle · · Score: 2

A few years ago there was a riot (sports related, non political) here in Vancouver, BC, just north of Seattle. Someone was hit in the head with a rubber bullet, and suffered severe brain damage.

They're certianly better than normal bullets, but they're still weapons, and it's not ok to use them on civilians.

Well in my area the cable line provider is also the only isp - no competition. There's one adsl line provider but lots of isps. My adsl line is reliable, and faster than cable in the area. My friends cable is always going down, and he averages half my speed. Cable users can't even saturate my *upstream* bandwidth (384 kbits/s). I wouldn't even notice when one is on my ftp if my router lights didn't flash.

I wouldn't get interferance from AM radio transmitters anyway, they're all on top of the mountians.

That's the point, people buy that for the advertising. It's a catalog of smaller resellers. The few non add pages are just filler.

Here in Canada we have a series of newspapers (Computer Paper, Vancouver|Toronto|Whatever Computes, et all) which offer cheap advertising for the little hole in the wall computer shops. The articles are garbage, the writers don't know the meaning of "research", but thier advertisers have the cheapest prices on parts, so I pick them up.

What if Bill G had the same political power? Would he make similar choices? I think, given his ethical record, that he just might. That's my opinion, it hardly makes me "loathsome". They are both Bad Men. One is considered much worse than the other, the same one had much more power than the other. Coincidence? Maybe.

If there's not enough, the universe will just keep expanding until matter and energy are spread to far apart for anything interesting to happen.
