  1. Indifference is the threat on AIs Have Replaced Aliens As Our Greatest World Destroying Fear (qz.com) · · Score: 1

Borrowing from a certain on-air radio program: the threat to humans is that AI becomes indifferent to humans (neither benevolent nor malevolent, just indifferent like H.P. Lovecraft's Old Ones.) in the same way humans are indifferent to ants. AI could "move" humans out of their way just as humans move ants out of the way. E. Musk, G. Rose, A. Patch and others are just saying we must mitigate this risk now.

  22. Performance Equation on How Do I Manage Seasoned Programmers? · · Score: 1

Everyone's performance is determined by the equation P=f(M,S,E) where: P= performance M= motivation S= skill (right skills to do the job) E= environment (right tools to do the job. Performance is a function of a person's Motivation, Skill level, and Environment. A leader's role is to make sure the S's and the E's are satisfied (more training; better tools) and to properly motivate. For each person the M is different but there are common goals. A good leader can identify, create, and nurture those M's such that P is maximized. There are many ways to create M's: 1) performance based pay/bonus 2) competition with peers or self 3) fear 4) freedom 5) challenges 6) "whitewashing the fence" 7) others?

  25. karstdiver on How Would You Prefer To Send Sensitive Data? · · Score: 1

The first question was "How would you prefer to send sensitive data?" along with "what would be on your wish list?". That allows one to ignore the question of "even if it should be sent" or "what about after it is sent". The second question was "What would be on your wishlist for the best way to send...?". That allows one to pick any method for sending. Therefore I would use (or want to use) quantum cryptography.
