I'd say from Al-Qaeda's view, they were successful in their mission. The guy didn't have to blow himself up successfully for the whole thing to be a success. In fact I'd say the guy's handlers probably knew there was a close to zero chance of him actually managing to blow himself up. Either way, they've achieved their aim, which is to spread fear and to get the authorities to implement ever-more ridiculous countermeasures in an attempt to stop stuff like this happening.
So Al-Qaeda wins no matter what, because of the way everyone reacts.
A lot of these terrorists are basically loner losers for whom life has no meaning anymore. It's just another variation of high school mass shootings. You can interrogate him, but you're unlikely to learn much useful info. You can recruit these kinds of guys practically anywhere in the world.
Have you been living under a rock? There's been plenty of investigative articles that cover and criticise the abuse and sexual assault a lot of women have to put up with in the armed forces. It's a wonder that any women enlist at all, frankly.
You should've screened her better before you married her. Either that, or you were just too boring so she sought out excitement from other avenues.
Geeks are supposed to be smart. But for some reason, a lot of geeks don't seem to want to put effort into learning how to date the opposite sex or how to make relationships work.
Some people claim they've been fined for attempting to buy (i.e. "import") Left 4 Dead 2 online via a UK retailer. A friend of mine (*cough cough*) is still waiting for his copy after more than a month after it was shipped from the UK. Hopefully it's not delayed because it's being held up by fucking customs.
The "magic bullet" is usability. Those who understand the power of usability and high quality user-friendly interfaces are those who succeed in an otherwise mediocre marketplace.
That's right, you show those smug elitist bastards -- how dare they walk around without a full-face helmet? I can't wait for someone to pound those grinning little pricks into the dirt!
Apple took a beating precisely because they chose to dabble in the Mac clone market. That's a mistake that Steve Jobs will never make, hence why you will not see Mac OS X licensed and sold for generic non-Apple x86 PCs.
You'd be a complete fool to sell Apple stock now. Apple is set to get stronger than ever before.
Apple isn't doing anything different than what it has been doing ever since Jobs came back to captain the ship. It's the epitome of Steve Jobs' business strategy: make high quality, premium products which focus on great user interfaces and usability. Apple products will not be open and highly customisable as long as Jobs remains in charge. I think it's working very well for them.
I can see both sides of the argument. But I'd say it's a safe bet that most of the people who say "just ignore it" have never been seriously bullied and terrorised in their lives before.
Professional GPS/car navigation applications on smartphones don't require cell or data service. Maybe you have them mixed up with the original Google Maps application.
And in what way isn't an iPhone as good as an old iPod when it comes to music? In case you haven't noticed, Apple has positioned the iPhone OS platform as its premier music and multimedia playback system. Apple moved beyond music long ago, and they're about to enter the online magazine/ebook/news/content business.
Agreed, I think Nintendo needs to be seriously worried by the likes of the iPhone and its competitors when it comes to the Nintendo DS series. The DS doesn't have a significantly better user interface and ergonomics compared to many multi-touch smartphones. And the games are much cheaper on smartphones too.
My DS Lite has been collecting dust for a while now.
Valve did this exact same thing a few years ago with the release of The Orange Box. They banned all the keys sold by resellers such as Zest (a Thai online store). I'm sure they've done the same thing countless other times with other games since then as well.
If you look at the list of top grossing apps, most of them cost more than $0.99 -- it's definitely a case of the best and most useful app wins. You gotta think quality, not quantity. If you slave away on making a great app and then price it at $0.99, you're basically just throwing time and money away. I think the smart developers realise this.
I've noticed the opposite. There was a dearth of useful apps early on. Stupid crap like "I Am Rich" abounded. Now, there's more and more awesome titles like "Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies" and "Settlers". Sure, there's still a lot of crap around, but the number of quality titles is increasing.
A Call of Duty game being critical of the US government, are you for real? You must be smoking something good...

Agreed. Apple is very good at refining the little details that ultimately make the end user experience much better. Almost every competitor seems to miss this. Incredible attention to fine details is not something you can just copy and then hope to make a lot of money from. It's a motivation that has to come from within.

The fuck? Where did she demand that men be attracted to her because she is now female?
My country is being fucked up by a small handful of fundamentalist lunatics. Great.

It's absolutely ridiculous.
Well said.
Gotta love how some jackass modded you troll.
Agreed. The parent poster also claims that police rarely enforce the law when women are doing the beating -- where are the stats for that?
Are you talking about the jailbroken iPhones getting owned because the owners didn't change the SSH password?

Western countries will simply switch their cheap manufacturing bases to other developing countries, e.g. in Africa.

What you said is completely ludicrous. Police officers in Australia don't need to have law degrees to be promoted above patrol duties.
I think that only applies to Australian Federal Agents, if I recall correctly. Similar to the FBI's requirements.
For state police it's just diploma of policing or something along those lines. Definitely not the equivalent of a university degree.
I've always liked the idea of law enforcement mandating a 4-year degree as a minimum entrance requirement. Weeds out a lot of whackos.

It's a typical case of "justice"... sentenced to life in prison, but out on parole after a few years.
If I was friend or family of the murder victim, I'd be outraged.
Witness the rise of the Microsoft apologists on Slashdot. Your arguments are inconsistent and puzzling!
