Giving away the software of failed companies could turn every corporate failure into a disaster for everyone else.)
This could be true, but isn't open source everywhere doing this exact same thing? You can not say that there aren't some very reliable and feasable open source alternatives to products out there now.
We cannot use the arguement that making commercial grade closed software open will devistate software companies at the same time as justifying making commercial grade free (beer) open software from scratch.
Well i guess you can make an arguement. I am just saying that that same arguement stated about corperate failures, while may be understandable and logically sound, does not pan out realistically the way things are being done now.
Or they will click through that without reading it like most of the users I know.
Many of the tickets i get for computer fixes that are actually just caused when the user blows through the "plugin download" popup and doesnt know why there is a little red x instead of the stuff he or she is used to.
Im sure that it would solve a great deal but I would not trust it enough to feel secure that all our many clueless vp's (and concequently, our network) are safe

That is what goes on in most of the countries I have ever lived in. Hell, all of them. Our great USA has speed limits and dmca issues that noone in their right mind would follow. The matter in point is just extent.
"As time went on, we became e-commerce guys," says John Hays, 37. "These codes are serious business and it's big, huge money. And it's fun for us.

I would connent on how bad their page layout is, but looking at the software they had on hand, I'll forgive them.
Actually, a lot of the older simpsons episodes DID have some good psycology/sociology insights, around seasons 3-7. Now though its mostly another sitcom. But a damn good one. (On a partially unrelated note, the Simpsons are bringing back their old writer! Hurrah!)
For 12 seasons, "The Simpsons" has mined religious subjects for laughs. The staple of the Fox network has sometimes been called sacrilegious

The thing about the B52's is that, even though not many people would know the technical specs, it has been encultured to convey power. You can tell the average Joe Shmoe that we are sending B52's into ombat and, even though Joe can't tie his own shoes, he will know that we are sending in the big guns. Plus its a dang good plane.
Im sure I speak for all of us when I say that the world will feel safer after we contract people to fling Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles at coke cans just outside our atmosphere.
