For it to be science, it has to be based on observable evidence and not belief. What you are talking about is the moment when what you believe is shown to be wrong, which is a change in belief and not a change in science.
Every few years we have people trying to legislate science out of the class room because it conflicts with their vision of religion. Of course our science classes are messed up, people have a vested interest in them being so. Frankly, much of what is taught is not even science. Anyone who comes out of high school thinking that science is about facts has been done a disservice.
And on the science vs religion front. Religion has rewritten itself often to adjust to realities that science has postulated. Science has never changed based on belief. So as a betting man, my money is on science. But as a scientist, I accept the possibility that I could be wrong.
My complaint is there there's never a place on the forms to mark that I believe in the theory that life started when Neil deGrasse Tyson traveled back in time to ejaculate into the primordial ooze.
Wouldn't this force such developments to require flood insurance that would be backed by FEMA, thus pushing the cost onto the federal government and tax payers in the rest of country?
Its called "credit". Sure, at some point you'll need to pay it off or go bankrupt. But that's in the future, which may not even happen! Besides, but then I'm sure to have won the lottery.
I doubt the validity of both the claims and the question in this article. I dont see "desktop-based programs are increasingly giving way to cloud apps" nor do I see the client OS as a factor in cloud computing (isn't that the whole point?).
Even if your interpretation of what devices where effected was true, you would still be a crazy person. The act of receiving GPS signals can not be tracked. To track (for example) an insulin pump, you would need a TRANSMITTER in addition to a receiver.
The keyfob is fairly tamper proof. You would need to pop it open and use some sort of device to read the memory where the token is kept. Since the fobs are filled with epoxy and go dead if the power source is disconnected, this is difficult.
Facebook has many things of value, the Facebook users. The problem is that Zuckerberg seems to have no clear plan on how to capitalize on what he has. Thus the business plan of the company is more then a little vague. What's more, since Zuckerberg kept more then 60% of the voting shares for himself, the rest of the stock holders really get no say in what the company does. This, coupled with large accounts such as GM pulling out of their Facebook marketing plans and the company is looking a little uncertain. If Zuckerberg comes up with a means of monetizing the Facebook user base beyond data mining and expands into the Asia markets, then the company will do well financially.
Facebook is in the search engine business, just from the other direction. Facebook is for companies to search for people to whom they can market their products.
Lack luster story and quests, progression is on rails, no character customization and the itemization is dull. Bit of a let down overall. The defense is that the game doesn't REALLY start till nightmare difficulty, but that feels like a cop out to me.
That's not encouraging. I jest of course, that's a reasonable time to ensure a support line for the platform. We'll see how it works out, would be nice to have an OEM doing a Linux system that's more then just installing it and forgetting about it.
2002-2008 the United States handed out subsidies to fossil fuel industries to a tune of 72 billion dollars. I sure wish the government would block me like that...
Pocket what? Only calculator people have in their pockets these days is an app.
what do we do now?
The Rapture? That seems to be peoples plan these days.

18%? Try 28% or higher. Of course the bank is paying less then 1% on the same money since they barrow it from the fed.

Dont worry. The number of researchers, scientists and engineers is going down, not up.
The position of "porn filter" is a highly sought after unpaid position at Google.

There should be a quota! I'm tired of having to flirt with all the gay guys in IT. I needs me some women!
Commercials are mandatory! Any attempt to not view them will result in a law suite!

Citizens United only effects the United States of America, which was never a democracy. We are, and always have been, a democratic republic.

This will not help those who claim to be allergic to WiFi signals since their problem is psychosomatic.

Buying pet food online is the future, not a fad!
This is the same judge that basically told the jury Google was guilty before they started to deliberate. Thus Googles call for a mistrial.
Sorry, just not true.
