A friend of mine had some crazy plans for a remotely operated bong. This combination of simple switching hardware communicating using a serial port and some cheaply hacked up software allowed him to control his bong electronically. You could hit a button on screen, and a reversed pump and heat-bar would pull the cone and you simply had to breathe in the smoke. Later, we patched it so it could be controled over a WEBSITE using PHP!
Absolutely useless... but very cool...
The problem with the many attempts at ressurecting the best parts of the old Amiga platform is the GUI, we need a nice looking, responsive interface which will re-invent the magic. A pleasurable user experience was the best part of these systems.
...I stop feeling like I am using my skills to learn about and fix a good system. I feel like I am the poor guy stuck ironing out problems that shouldn't exist. This takes away that admiration and respect we have for a system that is essential to our interest in technology.
We have already researched what is needed for life, and if we do find one cell organisms in the Europan seas (and not exotic fish) what will we do? I can just picture it:
The NASA scientists recovered the exciting Europa module.
The NASA scientists examined the contents with the exciting microscope and found alien life!
The NASA scientists celebrated for 3 days and nights.......and then played Monopoly and made a nice lunch.

I think we have a new Douglas Adams on our hands here.
"You say you don't know much about Australia's style of government? Then why the fuck do you feel qualified to comment on something like this?"
Here here!
I wouldn't have put it in so many words but that's what I was thinking too! I wouldn't trade Australia for anything. But lets stop acting like children, both Australia and USA are great countries, if there are political issues then they should be discussed properly.

They just worked... nicely.

This would not be the free Internet at all.
This would be a new way of selective communication, it could turn out like email with no spam (yet).
taco! then we would all see the truth:
He can't program or use Linux!
