That's generally how 1-800 numbers function. They are "aliases" of sorts which always point to real NPA-NXX numbers....except the person being called gets to pick up the ld fees.

  2. 22 Million IP Addresses...Not! on Asia Running Out Of IP Addresses · · Score: 1

The IDC research analyst who supplied the "stark numbers" claiming China has only 22 million IP addresses assigned to it needs to actually do the research before making the claim. Anybody who takes the time to parse through the APNIC and ARIN stats files will see that this "expert" is off by nearly 10 million. China has 31 million IP's assigned to it. My site has a full listing of them all (and Korea too!) for your blocking pleasure. http://www.okean.com/asianspamblocks.html

For the most part, agreed. But Iraq couldn't beat Iran in 10 years of war, what makes you think they're capable of seizing any meaningful regional power? Iran is well armed and battle hardened. Saudi Arabia and Egypt aren't exactlly anarmed pansies either.

  5. It's viruses: not "viri" or 'virii" on Win32/Linux Cross-Platform Virus · · Score: 1

Is the plural of: campus - campii? no compus - compii? no Getting sick of seeing this. The plural of virus is viruses...not viri (there's no such word) or virii (again, so such word). The word "virus" in Latin is a mass noun and thus has no plural (In Latin) at all. If it did have a plural, it would have been "virus" (with a long u), because it is a noun of the 3rd decline. The English-language plural of virus is viruses...a fact any doctor, AV vendor, or even run-of-the-mill dictionary will confirm.

Why aren't these people (Palm, Handspring. RIM) going with CDMA (by far the dominate standard in the U.S....where most such units are likely to be sold)?? Hmmmm, I don't live in NYC...but I go there often and have stayed at The Millenium quite a few times...as my former employer is HQ'd across the street. Service was always bad with ATTWS both in the Millenium as well as most of Manhattan. Once I started using GTE Wireless (and roaming Bell Atlantic mobile/VZW) service problems in Manhattan became a non-issue. I switched the entire NY office of the magazine I worled for off of ATTWS and onto BA, and service complaints from them stopped. --Mike

EarthLink has a clue? They degrade everything they aquire. I know they bought out the company providing service for my Blackberry (OneMain), and since the buy-out by Earthlink, I have frequent outages as well as dealing with idiot tech support people who don't understand their own acquired products. I was also a long-time OS user. In fact, I was a beta tester of the original OS service before it ever rolled out. Ditched it a while back when it seemed a Palm m505 wireless modem would never be available. Now that I know EarthLink owns it, I'll never go back. We can just connect our pda's to our cell phones and save both the monthly charges as well as crappy incompetent service.
