So, do you hate me because you don't agree with me? LOL
OK, OK, there are exceptions to every rule. I've never been trodden on by any of the 3 you listed, and the (doubtless) many more that you didn't. However, those rare exceptions are going to get lumped into the "organised religion" generality just for brevity's sake. You don't give a full chemical breakdown everytime you say "dirt" or "air" do you, even if you DON'T know all the contents individually?
And because I'm in such a good mood, I won't even take offense to your woefully misguided "child" comment, you doting old fool.:-)
Nice bigotry, dude. But I'll bet you consider yourself a "compassionate liberal".
Typical liberal. Believes yourself to be oh-so-open minded and tolerant. Which is true: about things YOU like. About things you don't agree with, you turn into the worst hate-filled bigot. But YOUR bigotry is justified, right? Because the people YOU hate are "wrong", right?
I think the difference is that Quarex has never tried to forbid the "churchies" from listening to their music, but the churchies have a history of wanting to censor things that they find objectionable.
Ironically, the last parts of your post did describe the attitude of organized religion, though.
They're already pirates on a grand scale, so what revenue would Microsoft be *losing* if they switch to Linux?
Simple, Microsoft secured it's dominance when everyone was using pirated copies of Windows and upping its user base so it became a standard. Now, Linux will gain a lot of user base and potentially overturn the Microsoft standard.
Basically, every machine running Linux is NOT a mchine running Windows, and it weakens their position.
That money is coming out of the pockets of all the healthy people who will pay far more in than they'll ever get out
And how is that any different from the government hiking taxes to take care of the sickly people? Like you said, there's no such thing as "free money".
I actually have a label from a wallet I got that says Made ni Taiwan. I thought it was funny because of the stereotype about Taiwanese goods being crap. Ironically, I think the label Made in the USA is a bigger indicator of crap. Just look at our "motorcycles" compared to what the Japanese make.:-( We are still using farm equipment technology from the WW2 era in those things. Of course, most of the components for them is made overseas, only final assembly takes place here.
Great thought, but if you are going to assign a new word to replace "lose", pick one that is not ALREADY IN USE. Loose is a word, and it already has a meaning.
Let's just call everything Marklar, since we don't want to bother to learn unique qords to match unique meanings.
Now shut your marklar before I shove this marklar up your marklar, you damn marklar.
Moderators, how can the first person to express a desire for a product be marked as Redundant?
I think these are a neat product, but I don't see it replacing my CRT anytime soon (even after its release) for various reasons. It is still so long until production and a lot can happen, it might as well be vaporware.
LOL Actually, the 'net is responsible for promoting errors like that. I think our overall level of literacy is declining as a result.
Back on topic, even the person that wrote that email would have an easier time spotting a virus in broken English than I would spotting a virus in perfect Chinese....
Hey, PhysicsGenius, I wasn't trying to be rude with that post. I was trying to suggest a movie that I thought was a closer match to what you were saying.
No, that's not what I was getting at. I think that many people from that area of the world are exposed to a lot of broken English, because they USE broken English. So if a virus showed up in an email using broken English, they might not spot the fact that it is a virus as fast as a native English speaker would.
I think some other posts farther down this discussion have the same general idea.
Well, I'm not certain that dragging a 3rd movie into the mix is the answer, but Terminator is a lot closer than Predator to what he was talking about.
Nothing in the post was factual, thus the humor in getting the wrong movie.
Ya, you probably claim to be able to interpret modern art, too. See, what he was really talking about was Total Recall. I know this is true, because it has a three breasted mutant whore who came from corrupted DNA, like he was saying.;-)
You, sir, are what's wrong with Slashdot.
Good line, funny actually. Why am I what's wrong with slashdot when I merely suggested a movie that more closely fit the scenario he was talking about?
Hey, AC, he was talking about something harmful evolving on its own from tainted DNA. I don't know what version of Predator you watched, but the one with Arnie in it had nothing of the sort.
Species, however, is pretty close to what he was talking about with the predator (lowercase) evolving unpredictably from bad DNA.
In fact, it is stated that over 80% of a sample group of Chinese computer users believed they had been infected with a virus
Well, since every spam message I get from that part of the world reads like a Sircam virus email, I'm not suprised that they all believe they've been exposed.

EWWWW!!!!!
"She's gone from suck...to blow!"
Are you a lawyer? Sheesh...
How about "every machine booted into Linux is not a machine booted into Windows" then?
Simple, Microsoft secured it's dominance when everyone was using pirated copies of Windows and upping its user base so it became a standard. Now, Linux will gain a lot of user base and potentially overturn the Microsoft standard.

Mutation != evolution.
I don't think I would call it evolution, it is moving the wrong way. Evolution has an implied improvement.
quords = words
It figures, the one time I don't preview...

Exactly! I was thinking of this site when I posted. It does look like something the Sircam virus would spit out, doesn't it?
It's a suprisingly common nickname. At least, when your last name is Newton...
Or at least a "short and semi-interesting" one. :-)
Back on topic, even the person that wrote that email would have an easier time spotting a virus in broken English than I would spotting a virus in perfect Chinese....
Sorry if it came out wrong.
Are you sure people isn't giving too much credit to some of the posters?
No, that's not what I was getting at. I think that many people from that area of the world are exposed to a lot of broken English, because they USE broken English. Dear god you are stupid.
Species, however, is pretty close to what he was talking about with the predator (lowercase) evolving unpredictably from bad DNA.
Umm, I think you meant Species, right?
Well, since every spam message I get from that part of the world reads like a Sircam virus email, I'm not suprised that they all believe they've been exposed.
"Engrish" as a second language, you know...
...Stuff that Grey Matters?
