i figured it'd really torque me off if i downloaded 3+g only to notice after the fact that it's the previous release - so i tried posting a bug, but it just kept replying twith the oh-so-useful "an error occurred".
oh well - emailed 'em, i'm sure it's somewhere in their queue. maybe posting it here will help somebody out, maybe not.
you're absolutely right - not a thing to disagree with there. but i thought i'd add the fc4 specific part - on a "workstation" or "desktop" type install (the primary diff betwwen those is a workstation install includes development tools) - the firewall config defaults to pretty much "all locked up". the user has to explicitly open ports either during or after the install.
"server" installs differ, in that they open up the stuff you install to serve.
i may be off on the details somewhat, but that's roughly the gist of it, and has been the way fedora treats it by default for several versions now.
drink better scotch. actually - drink better liquor in general. (disclaimer: more expensive != better quality - ask someone who knows.)
i say this in all seriousness... i'm basically a beer and occasional wine guy. i have hard liquor maybe once twice a year. i've found its quality varies wildly, and quality is worth the money.
and another real world benefit of better quality liquor is that not only is it more enjoyable at the time, but it's a less painful hangover.
a good scotch (and i've only had a few) is smooth and smokey. there's no gagging involved.
>>>Isn't that like having Democrats speaking about relativity, or the Bush criticizing higher maths?
fwiw, all of 'em weigh in on everything, up to and including stem cell research.
what it means is an exercise left for the reader.
so who's gonna throw together an rh 7.2 usermode linux root file system with this thing? should be pretty easy to do.
that'd allow people to look at it without the pain an install might cause if you don't have a box to spare at the moment. i'm thinking my girlfriend might like this.
i might just do it myself when i get a chance. but work's a tad busy these days.
at the bottom of http://www.ubuntu.com/download you wanna change this:

he didn't sort before piping into uniq.
not certified for that.
phb.
having tried both, i've found that running linux on the host and windows in vmware has worked better for me than vice versa.
caveats: it depends what you're doing with windows, and i haven't tried using a newer windows than w2k for host purposes.

And here my buddy's been tellin' me all this time that the fags all use macs.

>>>Even easier... just give it all to charties. in cash. not software vouchers - for many obvious reasons.
