I'm sorry, but this just isn't true, the whole lose money for years thing. It's a myth propogated by everyone, but unless you are starting a serious capital intensive business it's just not true. Also a lot of those figures are paper numbers, but not true in reality. For example if I purchase a 100,000 dollar gadget, and depreciate it over 3 years, then that makes my business look pretty awful to the IRS, but if that item is financed on a 10 year note, then my cash flow doesn't look as bad.
I've operated 1 month on my business at a loss since I started it 5 years ago, and that's only because of a theft and having to buy 8000 dollars in tools in the span of a month to replace what I had built up gradually. It's just a small IT consulting business that targets the SMB market. I started off by researching like crazy and signing up with tons of national companies to work for for peanuts. This is something I do today still even though it's usually an employee that does all the leg work on those now. During downtime I beat the pavement, went into businesses dressed presentable, and gave out cards. I also read marketing books like crazy, because I'm an introvert as a lot of IT people are. I learned that people are dying to find good IT people from web designers, VOIP providers, break fix guys, AV people etc. Above all they just want someone who does what they say they will do, and is honest, because although cyberspace is glutted with people giving away service, in meatspace there aren't a whole lot of people willing to sit down with someone and take the time to explain a suggestion. Honestly my insurance guy isn't the cheapest guy in the market, but he sat at my dinner table and explained everything I needed to know about insurance in an easy fashion, and helped me not buy crap I didn't need. He was a startup, and never had a negative month, and is now one of the larger independent agents in town. Don't tell me that any market is more glutted than insurance, there is an agent on every street corner.
I won't say it's easy, you will spend 120 hours a week at work or more. You will be forced to operate under a strict budget. You will have to learn accounting, and you will have to learn how to delegate either to employees or outsourced resources. You will have to learn to budget your time equally as strict. It is doable though from lawn care to IT, it's all about relationships, integrity, and value creation if you want to grow a business right.
when they started making cases without the razor sharp edges everywhere. I generally only curse at intimate objects when I impale or gash part of my body on them.
Blame wikileaks. If they would have released everything on day one then maybe he could have been tried faster. As it is they release things in drips and drabs, so the evidence is still coming out. He can't be tried on new evidence.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.
The only thing I can't help but thing is that he might not have the two witnesses or a confession. Giving a countries secrets to another country with the express purpose of sharing that information to countries hostile to yours is most definitely giving aid and comfort to enemies.
It doesn't matter who you are spying for, a spy is a spy. He was entrusted with military secrets, he took an oath, and he broke that oath. You do realize he can very well be executed for this? I had a friend years ago that got busted for hacking into a submarine when he was a teen. He didn't realize it was a sub, he was just demon dialing and poking around on systems. Two guys in black suits showed up at his school, and escorted his principal to the room he was in, and arrested him. The government woudln't tell his parents anything for 3 months, and he wasn't tried, or even read his rights since he was a minor, the government just took legal custody of him. He was kept in isolation and solitary almost every single day he was in jail unless he was being questioned. After 6 months they released him after they caught someone in Germany that had also hacked into the submarine and was marketing the documents abroad. He told me the only thing that kept him going was that they kept bringing him his school work, and he figured if they were doing that then they weren't going to drop him in the middle of the ocean or something.
That's what they did to a civilian that broke into a top secret system 27 years ago, before 9/11, and before Mitnick was arrested. Do you really think they have gotten easier on espionage suspects?
Go to the youcut site and list specific cuts that should be made to the military. The problem with cutting military especially hardware is that the hardware manufacturers are brilliant and put a little of the manufacturing process in each state, so if you try to cut anything then almost every senator from every state opposes it. I agree though, that the military has TONS of waste. For example we have almost 2 admirals for every ship that is deployed. That's insane!
The NEA last time I checked was the national education association, or the national endowment for the arts. Wha?
Farm subsidies do need to be cut, but you are going to find almost 0 support on that from democrats or republicans. Any cut would have poor looking farmers kids trotted out across tv's to show how evil the people were that wanted to stop propping up ethanol even though it's destroying aquifers in the midwest.
And there is 0 waste in 6.85 billion dollars, or 6,850,000,000 dollars huh. I support the NSF and it's goals, but you can't say that there isn't a good 10 to 15 percent of overfunded crap in there, that should get if not removed from their funding moved to stuff that would be a better end goal.
It's not like they do it because it's Christmas, it's because it's berfore the end of the fiscal year. Also one of my bosses put it to me like this. Would you rather know you are getting laid off before christmas when you can cut back on spending, or after christmas when you have maxed out your credit cards? I personally don't use credit cards, but it's a valid point.
I have 4 kids 2, 3, 4, and 15, a wife, an 1850 sq foot house, 3 cars (well used and paid for, newest being a 2005 minivan). We have no problem paying the bills and putting money in the bank. We have a 6 month emergency fund, and fund a 401k with 3 percent of my salary, and fully fund Roth IRA's for my wife and myself. We don't blow money like it's going out of style, we stick to a budget, we plan plan plan. Of course a lot of people think they should be able to go on vacation to disneyland every year, drive 2 new cars, have a mcmansion, and still have the same sense of security their grandparents did that generally had 1 car, lived in a small house that they fixed up themselves. You have to delay gratification in this life. Things that come slowly are hard to lose.
If you transfer risks to the individual people, then the people won't work for the corporations, and companies globally will crater.
Can I subscribe to your newsletter so that I may have something to burn to keep me warm when we enter the dark age that would happen if your kind of thinking gained momentum globally?
That's an idea parroted right off huffpo, and it's just as stupid here as it is there. If you could go after people working for a company personally then nobody would work for a company, because it would be impossible to limit your liability, and the economy would collapse.
Force companies to sell goods for a fixed price, and they just stop selling to your market therefore removing competition further, and in turn pushing their competitors prices up by artificially limiting supply.
If your really a budget consumer, and are using the hard drive to get crap done then at the cheapest rate a laptop replacement SSD from newegg is going to cost you like 80 dollars more for a 64 gb SSD than a 500gb hard drive. If your time is worth 50 bucks an hour on the market, and your boot time is reduced by 2.5 minutes your ROI is at break even in around 3 work weeks according to my head math.
I dropped my latitude d620 on the concrete floor my desk sits on, and it crashed the hard drive instantly. For the replacement drive I let a friend convince me to shell out for the SSD. It's amazing. I no longer have to worry about bad sectors, my battery lasts longer, the machine is cooler, it's quieter, and the OS loads in like 5 seconds to usable state with virus scanner etc.
I have a couple slow terabyte hard drives in my old system I use for a media system/home file server, but for systems I actually use for work or play I'll never have any non solid state drive as a primary drive again.
You were being too nice. To a lot of Republicans illegals are slave labor for corporations with no ability to ask for any workers rights. To some Democrats they are votes guaranteed to keep them in power since 75 percent of Hispanics or so vote Democrat.
The sad fact is that most American like the Hispanic culture, and immigrants. I'm personally married to a Hispanic. Most Americans however have a sense of fairness that illegal immigration violates terribly.
The same way when you are pulled over without a license now you prove that you do have a license. You tell the officer your number, or you give him your name and address and he pulls it up on his snazzy little car computer. Same with social security number. The fact is this law parrots federal law, so if you don't like it change the federal law.
The problem with BOTH parties is that they both believe in equality, but (animal farm reference) some people (politicians) are just more equal than others.

I'm glad Google isn't going to be linked with that ad supported, user monitoring, marked up app store, closed to hackers, Orwellian device.

Remember when Slashdot would destroy servers with a mere link?

And how fast do you want to force his lawyers to try and mount a defense? Length of time helps both sides.

Yea, it was a great deal for us too. The spies they got were pretty worthless, and the ones we got were top notch.

Cmon, you can say it. A military research agency.

Typical step 1 leftist group thinking.

It's kind of the law that you carry your ID while driving.
So memorize your green card number, or provide your name which matches to a green card number with your description. Not really an issue.
The law in no way violates probable cause.
