    Exactly.

But they were retarded enough to think, despite in GTA when you shoot someone them dying, that no one would get hurt. Something was definitely wrong with the mentality of these two kids. That's what needs dealing with!

Long time passed, but still... I particularly found with Vice City that the graphics were greatly imprved on the PC, what with them actually doing it properly this time and doing a full overhaul, removing the visual bugs, and adding DX9 support. I've played it with a PS2 joypad all through on PC (both games) and mouse/keyboard for on foot. It means changing controller in game, but I find it gives me the best of both worlds, since I just cannot aim the aimable weapons with a pad. Also, I have never had any problem with crashes on PC. But then GTA3 was so clunky before I got the GeforceFX the other day that I only just managed to play it to the end on the Geforce2 (well above minimum spec). They really did screw up the port for that, but they redeemed themselves with VC. Basically, there is such a wealth of ports coming up for GTA that it's a real take your pick on how you play it. Just pick your favourite and go with it really, which again, props to Rockstar for doing so!

They're not modifying the shape in flight. So all you'd need is a modified bullet before you fired it.
But you'd probably run into many problems, hence they haven't done it?

Also, I'm not clear on this, but I suspect a silencer would slow a bullet enough that it wouldn't be supersonic, so that wouldn't be viable.
Plus using a coke bottle filled with anything to silence a gun would probably result in it exploding, most cobbled together silencers do so.

  5. Re:I'm a parent. on Kids Kill, Victim Sues Game Maker · · Score: 1

Agreeing with the other follow-up about passing the buck:

It is refreshing to see a parent with realistic and well-founded views and ways of dealing with them in a topic like this.
After all, the statement - "I think it's about time parents started paying attention to the rating on video games." - is ridiculously obvious. Yes, there are ratings on games. They are essentially the same now as ratings on films. If you choose to obey the ratings on films (well, my parents didn't, nor did most of those I knew, as with games) then they should on games. As should the shop owners I guess, this being the more important part of this whole argument. That could sound like passing the buck, but if kids are buying the games, parents can't always know, and it is more difficult to buy an 18 video than an 18 game.
Parents really should be paying more attention to what their kids are playing over all though. It never made any difference to my life. I was playing violent games and watching violent films from what some people would consider a scarily young age, and yet I am currently working through a PoliSci degree in the hopes that one day I can make the world a little better for people to live in - less death, violence and crime on all parts (that is corporate, political and civil).
So I wouldn't say, even at the point I agree that parents ought to watch what their kids are playing, that it really makes a big difference. As I have stated before in these arguments, only the mentally prone to conditioning will be affected by violent games, to the point where they hurt people. Unfortunately, I feel we may have more people who that applies to around nowadays than before, also because of the US and it's media throwing hate and fear at it's citizens 24/7.

So here's an answer - if you're concerned about your children playing violent computer games and killing people - bring them up in Canada!

Yes, I partially agree with the other reply to this post, saying no one will put off voting for Bush for vetoing this bill, but on the other hand, that's not quite the point. If he does veto a bill, particularly one that has had such a heavy majority, the political backlash will be huge. By the time all the politicians have jumped on him for that, and the press have had their say on a President vetoing a bill, again with this kind of majority, it would have far more effect on the party than you may assume.
Also, "A veto override is a political catastrophe for a President"... Yes, when has something being a political catastrophe had any sway in changing Bush's mind?
