I can't beleive it, I've never noticed any problems with most of my DVD's. I play them on a Pioneer DVDRom on my PC (19" flatscreen CRT monitor or through to TV) and have only noticed pixelation on like one particularly badly produced one i happened to buy. Apart from that I am always amazed by the stunning quality of both visuals and audio.
I do notice some issues on the player upstairs, but barely enough to makea difference, and is certainlu preferrable to VHS as far as I'm concerned. And I'd say when it's so cheap to switch to DVD why not? The discs you buy will still play on anything you upgrade to.
Doh, OK missed that one!
But hey, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as some of the posters I've seen here. Be interesting to know if he uses your and you're in the right manner.
OT i know but just so you know fsking, which was the only spelling issue I saw there, and thus assume you meant, is a common replacement for fucking to get it past lots of companies email swear filters.
I agree. I was using IE for agws cos it was the fastest loading, and fastest to act browser. I then recently switched to Opera which was developing great advantages to IE at about the same speeds.
In the last couple of week however I finally made the switch to Mozilla, and can't see myself turning back. Not onl am I using it as the only browser I use, but I have switched to Mozilla mail for it's excellent spam filtering. And, it's open source and has the best plugin collections of any browsers.
Well quite, strikes me as like listening to a walkman and hearing that buzzing clicking sound and knowing your phones about to do something. So when you stop slapping yourself you know to be ready to answer it... great!
exactly...
Violent games will have an effect on people, but only those people who don't have the mindset to know that it has no bearing on real life. It's the same reason pyschologically that films, and music, and even a conversation with a bad friend can have same effect on people who aren't mentally mature enough to know what morals apply and why. But, this is no reason to ban these games, or the films, that the majority of people can enjoy in a harmless way. When was the last time someone banned say soccer for the effect it has on some supporters in the UK, when the majority of people can get on and just watch it and enjoy it (though personally I wish they would band it, but that's just me being bitter about the morons...)
I think I'm going to decide to kill some people, and call my team of killers the Counter-Strike team just cos it's a cool name. I mean... come on!!!!
I wish we'd get a little less overblown reaction from the people who are so uptight they think they can stop people who are going to kill just by banning something they either played, or watched, or listened to. Naming yourself after one of these things is *not* proof that it was even remotely a cause.
Unfortunately batteries are still crap enough that after a certain amount of recharging they develop a memory. Note if your cellphone is of a certain age now it won't have even nearly the life it used to. Now with cellphones nowadays the batteries have tended to become cheaper to replace (I remember mid-90's when to get a new battery for my cell it was going to cost me around £100) at around £30, but laptops as far as I know are still far more expensive to do so for.
Fuel cells on the other hand won't have such a problem, allowing you a constant and reliable battery life, something I know I would like.
ALl this doesn't mean I'm on board. I have many doubts about the pricing as someone pointed out, and whether you can top them up yourself or if it's a one off deal each time. But it will have advantages.
Along with the superb Brubeck, it's well worth at least checking out:
Tom Wiats (pretty much anything - but Nightahwks at the Diner is my favorite - live show with a small audience)
Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters (Very unique record, definitely worth checking out. He kind of started the big Jazz/Fusion kind of thing back in the 70's.)
Modern Jazz Quartet (More traditional Jazz but well worth listening to, superb stuff)
And you can't go wrong with the classics - Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk et al.
There is the question of whether it is worth discussing the issues you put forth, if they are the opinions you hold. What's wrong with that?/. isn't condoning it or condemning it in the article, just making people aware of this.
Not only is it an interesting topic of discussion, but for geeks, it is interesting to discuss and explore the possibilities of emulation - being able to create something that can not only play the games of a console, with completely different hardware, at a playable rate.
But as people have pointed out, it's not even really an issue at the moment given the computing power it would take to do so with this gen of consoles. So we have the questions of modifiying the consoles themselves, also interesting.
It's not wrong to make people aware of the changes in technology and what people are capable of doing. If you are worried about the illegality of the act itself, don't partake of it, but you can't preach that we don't mention it somewhere where the majority of readers would find it at least interesting to hear.
This is the most ontopic post yet, explaining why this is not really a viable option for the next however long. Not until we have WiFi that can be used from great distances allowing everyone to commit to a central hub as it were. P2P really is too unstable to be used as a sole means of connectivity.
So as I say, maybe it wasn't a totally dumb question, but in there is the best answer seen.
Well, I think what it proves is that it's easier to get 'addicted' to if you live in the middle of nowhere. It gives you a release, a great way to ignore reality. Unfortunately living where I do I don't even get the option of MMORPG's due to lack of broadband. I can only hope for the UK to start offering WiFi in rural areas... Yea, right!
Yea, I've never had any problem with CTS. I fear that the Tendonitis in my left wrist however that has been plaguing me for a couple of months now might have something to do with a combination of typing/guitar/game controllers. But, what am I to do? It hasn't got worse so I figure I'll just keep ignoring it for now.
Perdido Stree Station (followed by The Scar) by China Meiville. Truly bizarre book - a cross between The Diamond Age and Discworld, only a little more steampunky and weird. Excellent books.
I think that the past year or two has showen far more variation and creativity than the last 5 years added together, which I put down to their ideas then being so grand they needed todays hardware.
Go to the good old days of superb creativity and the best games, and the technology didn't matter. Now, to rival the numerous FPS's that come out, we need creative games with more vision into the worlds. We need to feel we can walk around it and interact with more detail than a speccy platform game.
What about the work and creativity that went into say Black & White - yea it was too ambitious, but it was a good kickstart to some more imaginative gaming.
How about Morrowind - yep, OK so there are swords, but you don't have to use 'em. You can play a pacifist, and OK you can't do the main quest like that, but you can still do a whole lot.
And of course, the Lucas Arts games. With sequels of Full Throttle and Sam & Max coming out, we get more of their pacifistic humour back.
Basically I think while most of the big games we see are just new FPS's with not much new (though I'm sure Carmack can deal with that!), there are those that still make a big splash now they have the hardware to put up the images and worlds they wanted all along, and that gamers expect. And I only see the hardware helping to produce more and more bizarre, creative imaginative games in the next decades.
Maybe they decided they had to do something to get back at the US for freedom fries!

Wonder how much coincedence there is in MS waiting to release this information til after they made their deal?

hehe, hey I didn't even mean Russia, I just meant any damn Linux using communists! Cos we all know, if you're not Republican, you're Communist!
You know the best thng about real life... Computer Games!!

The Windows requirements is to put a stop to those damn Commies voting.

New discovery: not all stereotypes are valid!
Maya now being available for Linux. Now I can't be sure that that is what they are running, but hell, if they're smart and getting great quality...

Because it's funny!
Read it and try not to snigger at least.

It doesn't make it any less easy to learn to do!

Perhaps they'll just go for:
"Pick up the gun..."
I'm just gonna build one with a higher voltage output and make sure I always give that controller to a 'friend'.
