I'm in Seattle, and the clouds are rolling in. We had a clear sky til about 11:45pm, now it's all low clouds reflecting city lights. no aurora visible, ah well...
Go Satanic Puppy go! I agree, this is a culture shift, not a temporary thing. It may take five or ten years, but I'm really excited and curious to see what the outcome will be. Worldwide distribution with a sound business model? Consumer-backlash-overload, to the point of sinking the RIAA and having the major labels each try their own individual internet biz plans? Indie artists actually being heard and recognized for their talent? The possibilities are endless.
But a movie shorter than two hours is good for both sides (the movie studio and the theatre chain).
That means they can run 8 to 10, sometimes more showings per day, meaning that much more turnaround for popcorn with extra butter-flavered toppings (one of the theatre's top revenue sources, seriously). And the studios can build larger opening-weekend totals with the more showings.
"Today Sony revealed that when it launches at the end of this year, the multifunction device will come in two versions, one with a 160GB hard drive and one with a 250GB hard drive. They will include MSRPs of $725 (79,800 yen) and $906 (99,800 yen) respectively."
Where are YOU getting your conversion rates? Just what are you talking about?
well, at 399 or (optimistically) 299, I might have bought it. But they soared above that, and there's simply no reason for me to buy this at that high of a price.
Well, I'd buy this system. Boot, drink, get to work. I like that idea. They should dedicate one of the CD drives as a cup holder only, now that would rock.
Um, every Mac purchased comes with a copy of OS X. That's 1100 licenses right there. Not sure if each one needs to be the server OS, but I seriously doubt it in a node set-up.
hmmm, all I got was a "this page cannot be displayed..." over and over again whilst I hit the refresh button. I'm writing an Applescript tonight to constantly reload, I want to make sure I learn these benefits by some time next weekend.
I see a killer combo of Software House and GTA3...
You try to make a deal with Bungie, negotiations get blundered, then you discover later that they are really owned by Microsoft, so you load up the Spaz shotgun, steal a taxi, and go after the boss's boss...
Bingo. Just as with all the benchmarks coming out about the G5 vs. the Intel/AMD world, nothing matters until this is implimented and benched in the real world. Time will tell.
If you saw Bill Nye's original work on "Almost Live", a local Seattle comedy show that had its heyday in the early nineties, you would actually dig him. To me, he went to shit when he was picked up by Disney, but so be it. I still have some props from his studio (a killer 5-foot paper-mache T-Rex foot, I think it was used for prints in the sand, whatever, it's cool hanging on my wall), even tho I stopped watching him on cable, I still respect the dude. Like most other 'mericans, he followed the money, and hopefully he's doing alright now.
I'm a die-hard Jobsian fan, but I have to side with Tibco on this one. They've had the name since 94, they are now owned by Reuters, and they've got their niche and a solid product. Apple should quietly settle, change the name, and hope that their investors won't look too deeply into this. Sorry, but they could've resolved this years ago, why the arrogance?
Here's some good info on the company, and what this is all about.
oh come on mom, suck it up and take some responsibility. jebus christ, not another video-game-blame-game. sorry, but this irks me. Supposedly by now, because of my exposure to Vice City, I should be a serial murderer. argh.
so what's with all these idiot mathematicians talking about i ?
You mean Pi. It's that three dot something something number. i indeed, now you're just making stuff up.
You're either quite stupid, or make horrible jokes.
I wish they had a -1 mod for "too dumb to get the joke".

huh?

Shouldn't the slashdot topic icon say G5 on it by now
Slashdot's still waiting for the initial shipment from apple. Should be any day now.
Don't forget the Imperial Star Destroyer case mod. wow, overkill and too much time on his hands.

Um, Intentional Programming. whoops. sorry Charlie (heh heh).
Yeah, but "Intential Programming" won't dig us new canals now, will it?
Rest in peace, o ye father of the cold war. And may lessons be learned from your mistakes, your regrets, and your insights.
I hope he likes pizza.
And porn subscriptions...

Well I thought it was a cool idea. hmph.

I was one of the eight people on this planet that loved "Beakman's World". Damn I miss that giant rat.
Great camera angles and editing for its time, fun stuff.
"I am gonna become a World-Class Crayon maker."
Just watch out for such innovative naming conventions as "Flesh" and "Indian Red"...
My question is this: what's wrong with zeroconf?
My prediction? This is exactly the name they'll change their "Rendezvous" software to, in order to settle the suit. Hmmmm. Time will tell.
