James Rouse did the same thing in Maryland in the 1960s and yielded Columbia, Maryland. This is hardly an original trick. Wake me when someone has a new idea.
I really don't care what he says about us. I told the AG's office to go easy on him four years ago hoping he'd learn a lesson. From this, I have learned this was misguided thought.
He committed a felony while on probation. He is a repeat offender. The system offered him an opportunity to rehabilitate himself and he failed. Therefore, the system must now take action necessary to protect us all from a twice-convicted criminal. Salcedo has nobody to blame for this but himself. And unless he learns this, he will continue to be useless to society in nine years.
I probably should at least know a little. So should you. I was on the team that caught him in 2000. He should have gone down on a littany of Federal charges. Letting him take probation for only the Michigan violation was a gift he squandered. Nine years is not long enough.
Salcedo was arrested in the last month of a 36-month probation sentence after he broke into Arbornet and many other sites in 2000. The original Slashdot story is here.
The real problem this user has is one I have had. There is no suitable replacement for Access, FileMaker, or dBase. An open-source portable replacement would be a killer app for the open source community, but it just isn't there.
No, that's not true. I carried my cellphone around the White House complex without any problems. But, I always heard the President hates it when cellphones start ringing, so it was set to vibrate.
Actually, I was the original author of FreeGrep, and even if you pull out the text searchers in GNU Grep, FreeGrep is still only 1/3 the size (source lines).
FreeGrep is also FAR more extensible and, in general, better designed. It would not be difficult to add support for grepping bzipped files, other compressed types, or even new types of files. It's also easier to add new options and features, though I do think the entire alphabet has been exhausted.
Then you probably do not have the in-house talent after all. I suggest finding a commercial OS like Solaris, HP/UX. Or FreeBSD, then you won't need to worry about support.
That's actually the best part. Mickey Mouse still generates a profit, despite being 76 years old. There is good reason for Walt Disney Co. to continue the copyright, but the lone person, who wrote J Random Book in 1930 who died with no heirs has no reason to worry about his copyright, despite the fact the information in the book is probably useful to someone.
This is completely at odds with current copyright law. Copyright law, under the Berne Convention, grants copyright immedietly upon creation of the work. There is no regisration requirement. Requiring registration on the backend is nonsensical and the Copyright Office will be unable to validate existence of a valid copyright when granting the extension.
For instance, what prevents me from paying the dollar and renewing the copyright on "The Wizard of Oz" (movie, not the book, the book is public domain)?
One was the worst job I ever had. One was the best. On average, it is okay.
Yeah, it died a week later when my wife ran it through the washer.
I dropped a BlackBerry 8800 off the roof of a seven story building and it worked fine with a crack in the case.

Well, probation doesn't work either. He was arrested in month 35 of a 36-month probation term.
And forgive me for replying to myself, but I should make it clear. The world would be perfect if it were a part of the OpenOffice suite.

Warren Ellis did it better.
October 29th, 1929.
didn't i see this in the first episode of seaquest?
No, you read it here.
Dear moron,
"Genesis" has no more to do with religion than apples, gardens, and salt. It's the Hebrew word for "beginings."
I bet not.

We do have moving sidewalks. Ever been to an airport?
Drop the GPL. Your software is much more useful and far more likely to be included in non-Linux systems if the license isn't tainted.
1991 was around the time Berne took effect. Registration was no longer necessary. Of course they dropped off.
Years ago, I modifiedy AOL's Tcl/Tk TiK client to run everything through the jive filter. Nothing new here.
