Chumby's been out for a while. I remember reading about this device in an older LJ copy (last September to be exact). I guess what I am trying to say is This is old news but then again it would be presumptuous to think most/. readers also read LJ.

It's a Times of India article. Your most reliable source of news in India is the The Hindu. Don't let it's name throw you off - the paper is more reliable than the other English dailies in the country and prides itself on reporting news as close as it gets.
I submitted a story last week to slashdot about the release of RealPlayer11 and HelixPlayer 11 for Linux. These are new releases with new features that are actually attractive for the end-user. My submission was rejected...
From the useless forum thread, it looks like one cowboy decided to make things easy for users suffering from Creative's ineptitude. As noble as his motives are, his methods weren't exactly legal. Looks like he was redistributing altered binary packages and asking for donations for his effort and time. I understand he was trying to help users but again his methods (and not his motives) are suspect. If Creative had any brains, they would probably hire the guy (daniel_k) as a contractor, get his contributions in, pay him a few Euro (or Yen or anything but the US$) and check that stuff into their CVS and call it their own.
This is what happens when non-technical management + legal team + marketing get together to make decisions (and it's not just Creative...). I've been using a Creative Soundblaster 5.1 Live for the last 7 years - the card cost me 25$ and I've spent over 2000$ in AGP / PCI-Express cards in the same time. I am not much of an audiophile and the card just plain bloody works. Creative makes great hardware - the whining on that forum was driver support for Microsoft Vista but that's another nightmare story...
Stop posting on the internet...NOW. That book is for newbies who want everything explained carefully...hence the perception of bloat for an experienced user. There is a lot of extra material but that's good since an advanced user can skim the material and leave out the unneeded. If forums work for you, good and well - just don't be presumptuous enough to assume that they will work for everyone - people with network problems included. Like i said, stop posting on the internet.
I was amused and delighted by the article (given my dislike for fanbois and Mac fanbois in general) but i stopped at the following part in the article:
XP Pro pre-SP1 crashed all the time, and Microsoft owned up to it--mostly. XP Pro post-SP2 crashed once in a while, and we sighed and kept working while Microsoft looked embarrassed and yelled at someone to work faster on SP3
Now (at work) i have 4 Linux boxes, 1 Solaris workstation and a windows XP machine that i no longer use actively (keep it around for compatibility tests). However i've used XP since it came out in 2000. It didn't crash always pre-SP1, it didn't crash frequently post XP-SP1 and after XP SP2, i've had the box be up for 180 days before i had to power it down for a memory upgrade and then the box was up for 328 days before i moved offices. I am all for Vista bashing - i am all for Mac bashing and once in a while Linux as a desktop smacking but that section above there makes him lose all credibility.
All i can tell him is L2UseAComputer, tard. Mod me down but you know there's truth in this post.
Sure it's a piece of crap for 2000 but did it take them 7 years to figure that out? Or have they been including this all seven years. Fucking ridiculous - right up that nutcase Dvorak's alley.
Specifically, Vodafone is questioning the iPhone's exclusive use in T-Mobile's network and the use of the device being limited to certain fees within T- Mobile's subscription offerings.
That doesn't make sense (to me) - it's none of Vodaphone's business. The above would have made sense if they threw the words "consumer" and "choice". But, oh, that would be too much to ask. Who gives a heck about the consumer?
Vodafone isn't generally opposed to T-Mobile's exclusivity contract with Apple, but wants to have these new sales practices examined, the spokesman said. The restraining order doesn't aim at a total sales stop, he added.
Yawn. Sue Apple for calling the shots here - not Tmobile and it's bloody fucking ironic how Apple decided only ATT would be its bitch in the US and went for Tmobile on the other side of the ocean.
What's wrong with landlines? They are still functional during a power outage (Hurricane hit spots, Windstorm frequented areas). Internet connection down and need to make a call? Oh yeah the landline (duh of course this is valid if you don't have a cellphone or bad cellphone coverage at your home and/or bad signal). DSL (although some providers provide DSL without a landline). An uh....when broadband goes down, you can still dialup. Yes this is 2007 and landlines aren't quite the proverbial floppy disk (oh wait...)
I have this grand plan about being the cause for paranormal events in a house i'd like to buy but cannot quite pay the amount it's worth. What!? You have a house to sell? Mmmmhmmm BWHAHAHHAHAH:o 600K townhome for 400K? With a couple ghosts you say? I'm cool with that. Where do i sign?
I wasn't serious...but if you really have a house to sell *WHOOOOOOOO* *WHOOOOOOOO*
China is expected to launch its first lunar exploration satellite later this month; India has plans for a moon launch in April 2008; the next U.S. moon mission is slated for 2008; and Russia could be flying private citizens around the moon and back as early as 2009. All of those countries are making plans to land a spacecraft on the moon by 2012--with astronauts and cosmonauts to follow soon after. Reports say Germany is also interested in joining the space community. Meanwhile, Google is offering $30 million to encourage private teams to land a rover on the moon by December 2012.
New energy sources...plain old space exploration progress...a moon base...the possibilities are endless and all you can come up with is "depressing"? Maybe you should consider therapy.
So "ZOMG" is now officially acceptable for slashdot article titles? What next? OMGZ? WTFBBQ? TITZ? Oh oh oh letz go 4 TEH last one PLZTHXBAI!!11. LOLOLOL.

Some Physical information about the asteroid and Orbital Information. The first link mentions the diameter to be 30-70m, hopefully they are gonna land on the 70m of the asteroid yea?

Totally off-topic but WA != District of Columbia. I was confused there for a second that she was from WA state.

That's right - the atari2600...or not. Personally i'd pick the NES or the original (dot matrix) gameboy.
No registration link since our editors aren't too bright
Now where/how exactly can Neo get back to base? Or for that matter Morpheus :(
Well the post should read beta in 2000 but even as a beta, XP didn't crash ALWAYS. Longhorn beta builds on the other hand were a nightmare.

Meh. Most of their article is BS and Vista needs to move up ahead on that list.

What about Mowgli? How is this a story? I like slashdot but this is just ridiculous.

Did you even read the article?
