Don't know if it is a good way, but when I had to clone a load of machines I chucked the hard disks in a SATA PC, booted knoppix and DD'd one to the other. Seemed to work well without trying to find any 3rd party utilities.
Exactly, Windows failings. So why is the advert Mac VS PC. A Linux install comes with a lot more than a calculator and a clock. I think it is a tad misleading.

I'm sorry to say that it is nothing really but fud to say that 'average home users' are switching to Linux en masse. A trickle, maybe. I have a hard enough time trying to pursuade my technical savvy friends to switch.
And this is precisely the reason that I actually like having the "unelected" house of lords along side the house of commons. Those in the house of lords tend to be far more highly educated and often have less of a political agenda to serve than those in the commons. As you say, if it weren't for them, this ludicrous ID bill would already have been passed.
Indeed, I was going to say, I'd like the poster to show me a decent 200gb SCSI drive for $150. In fact, it would need to be in a RAID, so make that 2 or 3 200gb SCSI drives for $150.
Ok, but which correctly configured public machines (schools, uni's, internet cafes etc) are going to let you boot from a usb device? Allowing booting from other media can create havoc for admins.
At a risk of going further OT, I must admit that I do find it odd that while many of the latest networking QoS standards are having a hard time being taken seriously (what happened to the Win 2K RSVP implementation in XP?), we are still sticking with the old ATM infrastructure for ADSL.. I assume because the telco industry invested so much in it?
Could be that too, the entire BT UK ADSL network is still successfully based on ATM as opposed to PPPoE as used in many other countries because of its excellent QoS features.
Yes, its not to say that it shouldn't be done, just that security is all about as many barriers as possible. Being up to date means if someone bypasses your firewall or your firewall malfunctions, there is another line of defense, surely?
I didn't see much of a reason to upgrade to WinXP from 2K, and that theory has proven correct since everything I've wanted to run, has. And again, I see no new features here except eyecandy either.. as you say, any good features are now gone.
"You see, the corporations finance Team America. And then Team America goes out and the corporations sit there in their, uh in their corporation buildings and, and and see that's, they're all corporationy, and they make money. Mhm."

Haha analysed by Steve Gibson, well NOW I feel safe. I think I'll take my advice from a proper security authority
Because even though they might be doing something they deem to be nice, running code on someone elses computer without permission is still illegal.
The letter had nothing to do with the UK individually, except that the UK currently hold EU presidency, the country of which changes every 6 months.

In where?

Hmmm gallery, what COULD it be.

Or at a painting sale:
"I bid £100"
Later, after the painting sale, during a thimble sale.. through comes..
"I bid £100"
SOLD.
"Damn QOS!"
yes
And in that case, it must be either due some hotfixes (NT) or a kernel upgrade (unix).
How? They can just visit all the houses without a TV license.
Don't know about comparing mysql postgresql, but reading the slashdot article from 6 years ago made me realise how slashdot has gone downhill!
Well if you, AC, had looked at bit closer at the gallery section of the site there seems to be plenty of proof.
No I don't want that either, they'd only include the suction as a service pack.

I don't know why, but that reminded me a lot of..
"You see, the corporations finance Team America. And then Team America goes out and the corporations sit there in their, uh in their corporation buildings and, and and see that's, they're all corporationy, and they make money. Mhm."
You've obviously never worked in Critical Systems then..
