Well yes, but since the majority of linux distro's try to make the user run as non-root for the majority of the time, the chances of the said virus being able to cause significant harm to the system are at least diminished...
"I read that Linux has issued 25 patches so far this year, so what is to be gained by switching?"
Yes 'Linux'. No distro, no particular installed apps/services, no particular kernel, just 'linux'. Linux, the company, you know..
Well done Chris Schlehein... I think you really deserve your title of "Enterprise Network Administrator". Your obviously SO clued up in the world of computing.
What the hell kind of comparison is that??
"Yes, my current 2003 Mandrake operating system installation was much better than Microsoft's DOS 6.22 release in 1994."
Come on! Thats just desperate M$ bashing at its worst...
The way I see it, there is no need to harvest mobile numbers using free phone ringtone services etc. Surely mobile phone numbers can be targeted for sms sending in much the same way as a wardialler - just working through the numbers.
Isn't there a java version of mozilla available? I know nothing about amiga, but am I being stupid asking if there is a Java VM available for it?
IMHO, if there isn't, it would be more beneficial porting a VM, because then the amiga could run both Phonenix (mozilla port) and it would allow for developement/execution of many other java apps too..
He isn't providing a search functionality which I think will cut him apart from the rest in legal matters. In a way, Bittorrent isn't any different to HTTP/FTP or any other protocol... and the writers of HTTP servers/clients don't get sued, so why should he?
If he gets sued, then so should MS for providing a web browser capable of downloading illegal Mp3 files...
Doubt that. I'm sure eidos can handle it...
I would have thought it would help with things like buffers for light based network switches...
Didn't think Gnome *was* an operating system.
I'll get my coat... taxiiii
Oh... my.... god!
Technical professional?!! You are SO unbelievably clueless, I don't even KNOW where to start!!!

Those certificates are obviously not worth the paper they're written on!! Next....
This is an ESA mission. Why would it echo around the Houston room?

"well, Wired said..."
If we want Wired, we can read Wired!
Don't know about Martians, that there looks like the scousers have reached the moon...
Indeed they do, but a lookup shows that they have chosen to host this site away from Janet... hence its dotted.
From what I remember from the bugtraq list, mozilla is vulnerable to the same url bug.. in windows at least.

Obviously remote compromise is a different issue.

Joe IE user: "best viewed with a standards compatible browser, please upgrade to view"
Ahhh, but thats what he 'wants' you to do :-)
Hmmm, by the time you've 'investigated further', it might be too late.
Maybe not good, but it still works... and all the time it works, people will use it...
Ahhh yes, I see it now :-) Confusingly worded!
Yes "damn them" for inventing computers.
