This gets them great press with people calling them "not evil"
on Slashdot and everything, and it cost them practically NOTHING.
Actually, they stand to make quite a bit of money as the bulbs cost between 700% and 1400% more than regular bulbs and don't last anywhere near 700% as long.
Like most environmentally friendly ideas, they don't make sense economically.
IANANP: But, from what I heard, it very well could have been a nuke that just wasn't put together properly. When trying to create the atomic reaction, they use conventional explosives to compress the radioactive material. If their calculations were the slightest bit off, then the conventional explosives would have gone off but not created an atomic reaction. In that case, there will be more tests as soon as the previous engineer is executed.
Who says we can't enjoy ads? I don't view You Tube as a "home video only" site as much as a "if this video is interesting I'll watch it" site. Personally, I don't care who created the content, if it's good, I'll consume it.
I have used comodo in the past and was always happy with them. I had to add their root cert as trusted on my server, but then all the clients trusted it. I'm pretty sure they are in the default list of truseted CAs now. Their support is very helpful and available shoudl you actually need support. The cert was for secure.ndgi.com. I'm not sure what they use now.
Well, that would be a seperate class action lawsuit. This lawsuit was brought by the people who purchased the CDs. A second lawsuit should be brought on behalf of people who were affected by the rootkit. The lawsuit should demand compensation for the time it took to remove the rootkit and also for the damage due to loss caused by the rootkit.
I like it, but I can see how it would be confusing... I may have to update my user css to make the grey swoop go down and the green border be on the bottom.
Was performance even considered? Of the three windows games I downloaded: firefly wanted to send an error report to Microsoft; baron took 100% of the CPU and I couldn't control it; and socker ball took 100% of the CPU. I've got the latest windows XP crap and an NVidia video card with 128 Megs of memory and all kinds of excelleration, so how did these games win if they're running at ~1fps?
Well, if you get an average of $0.03 per hit, and you can successfully complete 1-2 hits per minute, then you'd make around $3/hour. If you work at a rabid pase, and complete 10 hits/minute, then you'd make $18/hour. Judging from the interface, 2 hits/minute is pretty fast.
It doesn't seem to be much better cmd.exe other than it actually supports UNC paths. That was one thing that always pissed me off about cmd and cygwin. How can you NOT support UNC paths in windows 98+?
Videogames, pizza and movies all day...
Hell, one of the guys didn't even show up for several months, and when he did come to the office, he was doing work for the competition on a contract basis while still getting salery from our company!
Just before the Cingular/AT&T merger, they HAD to ship all their phones unlocked because they had to be sure they'd work on the merged network. I got one of their unlocked phones directly from a cingular rep and used it with a T-Mobile SIM card. I imagine this happens whenever there's talk to two carriers merging.
All new activations require the purchase of a cellphone
I was under the impression that the purpose of the SIM chip what that you could activate a number/SIM chip independant of the phone. I know at Best Buy they sell SIM chips by themselves. I figured if you had your own phone, you could go to BB and buy a SIM chip and activate your phone for $25.
Problem is, if you out and out buy your phone they still lock it.
Actually, if you out and out buy your phone directly from the manufacturer, they don't lock it. When you buy it from the cell phone company, even if you pay more to not be locked into a contract, they are still giving you a discount over what you would pay the manufacturer directly.
I really can't see what the problem is. All the law says is that if the customer requests the ISP to block harmfull content, then the ISP has to comply, either by filtering it themselves or by giving the customer a copy of net nanny. If you don't want you right to look at virtual women impuned, just don't ask the ISP to block it. The ACLU would be better just asking their ISP to *not* filter pr0n, than suing the state.
I wonder if it would have been as easy to shut him down if he had open sourced his code instead of just making it freeware... Someone in China could always continue development if he had access to the source.
If office doesn't cause information overload, then why does M$ have to hide all the extranious menu options by default. I tire of telling users to click on such and such a menu and they come back with "I don't have that."
But isn't the person "sharing" the song the one actually making the copy? That person is taking the original and putting a copy on the network, all I'm doing is taking what's on the network and filing it away for posterity.
It seems to me that the reason the RIAA sued the Kazaa users was technically for _sharing_ the mp3s after they downloaded them. IANAL, but in my understanding of copyright law, it is illegal to distribute copyrighted material, but not illegal to receive it. For example, it wouldn't be illegal to listen to a song on the radio if the station didn't pay for distribution rights, it would however be illegal for the station to broadcast the song.
I always thought the RIAA's suites would fall apart if China set up a bunch of mp3 sites and the people in the US just leached them.
It seems to me that allofmp3.com didn't win anything. The district attorney simply decided not to prosecute because he didn't think the law covered digital copies. Now at any time a new district attorney could interpret the law differently and decide to prosecute. So until allofmp3.com actually does win a court case, they aren't really safe.
It looks to me like just another widget set. What makes this any better than WXWindows or the QT library? I was expecting something like a PDF reader/writer library.

Actually, I've been using mythtv for almost a year with no major problems. Thanks to lab.zap2it.com, I was even able to move from Alabama to Arkansas and still record the shows I wanted. All I had to do was log into their website and update my zipcode. Pretty simple, if you ask me.
now we just have Bill stand there & watch us every time for safety.
Safety? Oh, right, that's why I have him stand there and watch too... safety.

Any idiot knows the first rule of online defamation is to post anonymously... oh CRAP!
To wit: The Alabama Tree Leprechaun.

From TFA: If you want your welly wanged, look no further than this bright idea.
Something about the diesel engine from a concrete mixer and a gearbox from a Citroen 2CV makes me NOT want to let it wang my welly...
