Um, this probably doesn't have much to do with videogames. Your son is probably an extreme introvert (unless he has some other mental illness -- certain drugs can treat shyness).
Read this book and if it seems to describe your son, give it to him after you're done with it.
I personally believe that people do have a magnetic sense. I have a strange tingling feeling above the bridge of my nose when anything metallic is placed near it. It took me years to tune it out enough to be able to wear glasses and what not.
Spot on advice. Business is about cutting every corner and not getting caught (bad business at least). They have decided to take this risk and there is nothing he can do about it.
My advice for you -- look for a new job. The longer you are in a job that bad -- the harder it will be to find a good job later.
They also scam you with that stuff. I had a phone for *YEARS* which I deactivated. When my new phone broke I wanted to actiave my old one instead of buy a new one and they claimed it was a stolen phone and wouldn't activate it:)
Except that they don't last 10 years. I've been using CFLs for at least 5 years (back when they used to cost 10 or 15$ each). I've yet to have one last more than two years, and I'd say most don't last more than one.
I think ISO 9k is an industry scam. I worked for a company which had no process whatsoever -- literally none. When a new piece of software needed to be written -- someone would walk into your office and say, "I need something to do X" That *WAS* the entire software process. No requirements, no architect, no analysis, no test plan, no documentation, no testing, nothing.
Early 90's... Quake CD. You could go out, buy the quake demo for $10 and unlock EVERY id game there was at the time. I think tehy deserved it though, $10 for a DEMO CD?
Id like to second your "I agree somewhat." I started programming in the era of the Vic 20. Back then, it *WAS POSSIBLE* to know just about everything about computers and programming.
Things are so complex now there are thousands of topics, of which a few you can master if you work very hard. Its not possible to be an expert anymore.
I have no doubt these guys are full of crap. However, I dont think that the idea of "free" energy is that absurd. The energy stored in matter is incredible. We just don't have a good way to get it out.
It might turn out the joke is on us, and there is no efficent technique. I also would not be surprised, because the universe is vast and because we still haven't unlocked its secrets... that there may in fact be a way.
Exactly. I got a ticket yesterday in a part of twon TREAMING with illegal aliens, and a few years ago my house was broken into and we pratically solved the case for them, wouldn't do *ANYTHING*. I've been toying with the idea of writing "I'll pay when you investigate my burglary" on my ticket.
Did you ever find something to replace it that was better or did you resort to using 20 different pedals all the best in their class?
I have been pretty happy with a Digitech 2120. They are out of production but use real tubes which, to me the tube simulators just never sounded authentic. It's not *quite* as versatile as a pod, but it soudns damn nice. Checking prepal I see taht they can be had for about 450 on ebay. I think Digitech after the 2120 went to tube modeling as well.
If their hiring practices are any indicator... every 6 months or so Citrix calls me and asks if I'll come in for an interview -- I ask what the salary is, and after I stop laughing at them I say no thanks.
Sorry, you missed the point here. Obviously a college degree means you've learned more. But what you *GET* for it is what a high school graduate used to get. A middle class job if you're lucky.
AJAX is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. AJAX itself is a fairly ugly hack, the real usefullness of which has been to highlight the INADEQUATE nature of the www in its present state.
This is the classic progression of technology. A tool is being used for something it was not meant to, while technically feasable it is distasteful. This technology will be refined until it becomes apparent that a new framework is needed.
I see the most likely scenario as ajax being replaced by something designed to do the job far easier which is basically: Networkable GUI's
Yes. Automated testing/code inspection is handy, but a signifigant source of bugs is actually missing logic paths, or combanatorics errors which can't be detected by tools generally.
Anyone who can afford your services is too busy making money to actually go to your shop. Your only chance is to appeal to people who have lots of money and lots of time. IE: Near a very expensive university.

hahah! You must have free time :)
Why is the new business model to turn products into services?
Furthermore, all ancient Egyptians are dead. Therefore we can conclude that nano-technology is unsafe.
I wonder if CFLs are still competitive with realistic data.
Right because that would totally defeat a computer ...
4.* is Verizon/gte I believe. You use either of those for you DSL? :)

The juvenile elements of society always have a stupid comment to make :)
Luckily, I'm still Mix 'N Mojo

We were 9k certified.

Doubt these guys have found it though :)

Yea, Pods were out *WAY* before Oct 2001. I bought one in the 99-'00 region you mention. I had already gotten sick of it by 2001 and sold it on ebay :)
