  1. Whats up with that? on Dell Partners with Square · · Score: 0

Well I dont mind Square paretnering up with Dell, well actually I do because I find it so dumb that when you buy a new computer it comes factory installed with so much bloatware it feels like a much slower computer that you couldve found at the thrift store. Lets see, new computers already come with AOL all over the desktop, so many proprietary programs for periphrials, and so many options configured that arent needed that it makes the entire experience of having a new computer not any fun. Now granted, I can see it helps out new people, but there should be a guide instead of just already having it installed. Some people might like this deal with square, but i personally dont (flame me if you like), but i really dont like anime, and I cold find much better uses off the 300 mb on my hard drive. About the thing with NVIDIA - I never heard that, but that is outrageous! So many companies are going out of their way to be standards compliant, while some companies are trying to write their own rules. This is no fair at all to competition, and should be frowned upon as a microsoft-like deal. When will companies realize that wed rather have something work on more platforms than how fancy their cross pens are on their desk? It disgusts me.

Actually no, i had the lucky fortune on clicking reload at just the right second and saw my oppurtunity. I was so happy - could this day be the day i get the illoustrious first post? I was excited and my palms started sweating. Faster than I ever have moved the mouse or typed on the keyboard I posted the comment, the only place i slowed down was to wait 20 seconds before i can post. And I do not use a bot and will not sue a bot - because thats just not nice!

  5. Will this be available for us? on German Government Commissions KDE Groupware System · · Score: 1

I am wondering if this will be available to regular users like us, or if it will be a boxed product. While I dont fully expect KDE to deliver the entire product free to everyone, I think at least they should release the end product with alot of the things the government needs, such as group connectivity and groupware, not included as long as we can get what we all want - A alternative to Outlook. (Although I myself am a little partial to Evolution ;)) And another thing, what is the licensng going to be for it? Is it going to be GPL or are they going to start from scratch with all the code? Its going to be intresting to see how the KDE guys pull this off, and Id be very suprised if they can meet the deadline!

  6. Is this gonna be something like TechTV? on Open Source TV · · Score: 2, Interesting

I wonder if this is going to be like TechTV, or just like one of TechTV's shows. Althogether I was not to impressed by techtv because the lack of depth they covered some stuff, and even on their most geeky show, the screen savers, nothing would get more complex than installing a hard drive in your computer, etc, and hardly ever any tips on doing anything outside windows. I hope this show not only showcases more "geekiness", but also greater attention to detail on open source projects and open source operating systems.

  7. This is the first time? on Space Shuttle External Tank Webcam · · Score: 1

I didnt think this was the first time for an external camera on the space shuttle - I thought ive seen many clips of the space shuttle from the angle the website represented. I dont understand why NASA would have waited as long as it has though to put a camera on the shuttle. Well if the space shuttle had a camera, I sure wish MIR would have had a camera when it fell to earth - that would have been very cool.

  8. Why live on planets? on Billions of Habitable Planets? · · Score: 2, Interesting

By the time we have the sufficent amount of technology for exploring the billions of Eaths out there, I am sure we will have plenty of technology regarding space stations. The only purpose I see in colonizing planets is for just mineral mining and for exploration. There should be no need to try and terraform or have to shape the Earth-like planets to our needs, we should just build space stations. At least then we do not have to worry about having insuitable worlds, or worlds that are unproductive. Also, a space station would be customizable for purpose and for people. There is no need to colonize many planets!

  9. Travel Time and Technology on Pluto Plans Progress · · Score: 1

I was unable to read the article, but for you who were able to, does it mention anything about possible travel time and any new technologies being used? Personally, I think it would be exciting to see a plasma rocket power this probe. Chemical rockets (and solar sails) would be too slow, but Antimatter is too far ahead. Also, will they use the same nuclear power generators that they used on Cassini? It really made me mad, how everyone was protesting, saying it would blow up and leak radiation everywhere.
