    This comment rings very true, most security software intentionally misleads the user into hiding behind it ($$), rather than trying to educate the user in the proces.

    e.g. "you got the ___ virus, this probably happened becasue you opened an unsage type of email attatchment... etc..."

    Your arguement is flawed becasue people can't just harvest the DMV's database for a list of addresses to spam.

    I have registered a total of 4 domains, after using valid information on the first one I refuse to make the same mistake again. My first domain expired in 2001 and I still get credit card offers from it. Like it or not, it is still a public database containing personal information. I can't really blame people for using incorrect information.

    Trusts are not as threatening as they once were, most of the anti-trust legislation was passed with a very different world in mind (non global economy). Things have changed a great deal since then.

    Google does not use many HDD's, the storage will be on RAM drives, reboots will be performed every night at 2 am to free up space.

    Ah, I missed your point. Anyway, is it that Linux (X/KDE) really requires less hardware than windows or that people can't play Windows games on old PC's? I think lack of games are one of the reasons Mac's hold resale so well, because old Apple computers do just about anything you would need a new one to do however, old PC's won't play new PC games. Sorry for the rant, but the thought crossed my mind when I decided to get a PC for my girlfriends house and decided I needed to buy yet another $1,300 computer + monitor.

    Depends on how large the OEM is, I have heard of OEM's paying about $35-40 for a copy of Windows. Mandrake has one of the best OEM deals, I know they did charge $15 but I don't see price still posted on their site. Here we are looking at a difference of about $20. This is a problem when you are selling a PC for $199, but the $20 is not something I would lose sleep over.

    If you think PC makers pay $300 for copies of Windows you need to remove your head from your ass. If you think they are all installing the free download edition of these Linux distros you agian, need to remove your head from your ass.

    SuSe and Red hat aren't much cheaper for them than Windows.

    I think the problem is the current focus on stunning graphics rather than fun gameplay. The 10 best games I have ever played are all on old systems. Could just be becasue I was younger back then, but that seems to be the case. The future of the current gaming industry is online gaming and LAN parties. No AI is more fun than playing a human.
