    TW and Adelphia also do this. A great deal of good online chat does thought if your internet connection is down. Great idea for some stuff, but support over the phone is still required.

    I don't think I have met a single retard in my life that thinks stars are between planets. On that topic though it is a great deal of fun to ask complete strangers those types of questions. It's scary but there are people in this country that miss questions like "how many states are there?" and "who is the president?"

    Apparently most of them must also vote.

    Why would you want to opt out of the database? Who said they talking about blocking every company that has ever done marketing with email, there are known offenders out there who have been in operation for years and openly admit to spamming.

    You have an MX record for your mail server but there is no standard DNS record for SMTP servers. If my mail exchanger is getting mail from your SMTP server there is no DNS record (aside from A) to see if it is a valid mail server and not 24-77-128.dyn.dsl.someisp.com.

    So if all ISP's started blocking 25 you might get stuck paying someone 5 or 10 $ a month to host your domain mail for you and *gasp* actually get more mail than spam.

    That is a short sighted solution to the problem though, the better workaround would be to require you to keep a DNS record for your SMTP server on your domain.

    It would solve the problem of rogue systems being used for spam and you could keep your setup :P

    We use the same system, unfortunately I can't recall a single occasion where I needed to receive a .vba, .com, or .scr file. We send most files over Trillian but if we need to send it out via email we just zip it.

    PS. You might want to stop blocking .eml files.

    I never see them in bars or at many parties. Everone I see at work is male and people spend less time in shopping malls. All the people I know that own an Xbox or PS2 are guys. I guess woman have to be somewhere doing something, why not the internet.

    That does not really explain the 1/4 girl/guy ratio on personals sites though.

    Maybe females between 35-54 are most likely to have kids that use the net for school?

    I dunno, my mom seems to use a computer often for her digital camera, printing greeting cards, emailing Joe cartoon attatchments etc. So it could be possible.

    The answer to DOS attacks is going to have to happen on the routers. Improvements on the routers to identify, isolate, and/or filter this information is going to be the best weapon against DOS attacks. The low end cisco routers really have no method to ID the offensive traffic.

    I hate watching the stupid RIAA anti piricy documentary every time I see a movie. I go to a movie a couple times a week and have to watch the pathetic plea of the set painter or the stuntman every time. It is $30 to take 2 people to the movies, I don't want to pay money to these people just to listen to them complain.

    Having a windowing environment is not the same as naming hte product windows. I agree it is pretty generic but do you honestly think the name Lindows is not an obvious play on the Windows name?

    Why even bother with the name lin---s, is it a sympathy plea or something? Why not just use the name CNR Linux in those countries?
